January update

Happy New Year to all you wind junkies!

I had a great Christmas vacation with 15 of my family members on the warm, tropical island of the Dominican Republic. 10 days of sun and a little wind. We were on the Punta Cana side of the island where it's not super windy but still got some kiting in 10-15 knots at the Punta Cana Kite Club. The Kite club is a really nice flat water learning location right next door to the Club Med. Worth a visit. They have great instructors who taught my wife to get up and stay upwind in 5 days!

Top 3 Selling products lately

Ocean Rodeo Mako clearouts $599

DaKine Pyro kite waist harness $169

Used sails  - We just got 50 good used sails in from Solo Sports in Baja. (Note these sails never laid around in the sun they were kept under cover when not in use.)

What to do when it's cold

1/ Go ice sailing like Ed Melechson & Scott Peterson in Nebraska

2/ Build boards like Windance shop manager John Bellacera and his new kite skim board

That's all for now except for a quick Gorge weather update for you. Right now it's blowing 50 knots on the river and up on the mountain this weekend I was skiing & snowboarding in gusts to 60. Ridiculous.

Later,

Dave
