Winter is still herre if you are willing to climb to it. Yesterday Chris Van Tilburg and I climbed to the top of Mt. Hood and skied back down. We were waiting for a cold day that allows you to climb it in the daytime before the sun makes it dangerously crumbly. It also allowed us to take the Timberline chairlifts to within 3,000' of the summit. We made it up safely via the Pearly Gates chutes and since we carried out skiis to the summit we were able to descend via another chute just to the north. Great winter snow in the bowls below and then a cold beer in the lodge 6,000' below wrapped up a fantastic day.
