The wind is back!!!
We have had 4 days in a row of westerlies and blue sky. That's the 1st
time since October so it definately feels like summer is coming. Another
sign of spring is that everyday someeone else drops by on their way home
from a winter in BAJA. It seems the BAJA crowd is saying is wasn't as windy
as other years down there (same reports come from Maui), but they still managed to sail or kite almost everyday, tough life!. Welcome back and hope to see you here this summer.
Personally I am nearly ready for summer. It's been a great winter and I
totally enjoyed the Winter Olympics and I'm not just saying that because it
was in my home country. In fact it was a great to see all the countries
competing so fairly. Congratulations to all competitors and coaches.

*****Breaking News*****
Congratulations to our Canadian Customers for a winning Hockey Gold.

Hey Boarders,
It feels like spring here in the Gorge, but I know we have another chunk of winter coming soon. Still have my fingers crossed for more powder days.
What a bummer, my daughter Jesse broke her arm snowboarding on Saturday. I think she was trying some moves she saw in the Olympics when it snapped. Hopefully she will be back on the snow before Spring break.

Windsurfers take note, the Pistol River Wave Bash is back and Windance is one of the sponsors. Be sure to attend this event. It should be the biggest wave sailing contest in North America this summer. June 17-20th Pistol River, Oregon. Visit the Event Website for all the details.

Highway 14 will be closed a lot this summer. Be aware, this could affect your sessions. Basically in March and maybe April the highway is closed so you have to go up and around behind White Salmon to get to the Hatchery. Then all summer there will be 2 hour closures around Dog Mountain which will make getting to Stevenson hard. See this site for details.
Product updates;
- Ezzy 2010 sails are online with lots of special Windance information like “what year is my Ezzy “, quiver discounts, rigging guides etc.
- 2010 RRD boards are online and we have a new local distributor to serve you quicker and better.
- 2010 Ocean Rodeo Mako and Rises are online and here. Be sure to demo the new Mako King this summer, it’s the answer to easy wave riding. Best mutant shape ever
- 2010 Slingshot RPM, Octane and Key are also online. Note they have a high MSRP and it’s all we are allowed to advertise but call me for the bro-deal pricing.
- There’s a lot more product coming online but also be sure to look at our closeout price list for great deals, free freight and no tax !
Later,
Dave

Hey boarders,
Idaho has been invaded with snow-kiters!!. Windance staffers John Bellacera and Brad Gordon were there last week with our great customers Hal Bodman and Pete Wright. They got 5 out of 7 days in untracked powder. John is getting huge air here on the Ride Slack Country 161cm.

Brad has started a seasonal snow-kite guiding business called Thermal Foundation that includes meals and housing. If you really want to see snow-kiting it in a big way then check out the Snow Kite Soldiers Event Feb; 19-21
Check out the spring issue of SBC Kiteboard magazines Buyers Guide for some of the most technical kite reviews in the world and also this Top Ten list they asked me to submit.

Enjoy the Winter Olympics, it’s the biggest, most peaceful meeting of people in the world.

Thanks,
Dave

Hey boarders,
I’m back from a Banff & Fernie B.C. powder trip. We rode Lake Louise, Sunshine Village, Fernie Resort and then went Cat-boarding at Island Lake Lodge. A great trip with my brother, cousin and another old pal. If you like resorts with few people and lots of steep & deep try Fernie. Amazing hill. It’s such a small world that I ran into an old friend who now patrols there and guided us to the best Fernie chutes for 3 days.
If you want guaranteed fresh tracks, pay a little more and go on a cat at Island Lake Lodge. You stay in log cabins and ride in the back of a cat with 12 others everyday, music blasting, tons of food, and 2 guides to get you around safely. Here’s some pictures for you;

The windsurfing & kiteboarding season is getting really close here. Hopefully you also have got your winter thrills and are thinking summer soon.

Hey Boarders,
Huge avalanche at our local hill on Sunday night!.
Mt. Hood Meadows is only 45 minutes from Hood River and had a very big slide fill Heather Canyon. Luckily it was 3 hours after the hill closed and no one was caught in it. It was of an epic size. It released up high on Mt. Hood above the ski out from the bowls we ski call Heather Canyon and ran for a mile down the ski-out stopping only 100 yards from the chairlift that takes you back out. The debris pile is 30 feet thick. I have skied my kids down there twice this year. Scary. See more avalanche images here.
