Intro
Beginner packages are great ways to get started in windsurfing. They
include the board, fin,
mast, mast
foot, boom,
sail, and rigging lines. Other items that may be needed
would be a wetsuit,
a harness,
and a roof rack.
All of the new beginner boards are much wider and more
stable than their predecessors. Rigs are also lighter.
These improvements make it easier to get started in the sport of
windsurfing. We stock a variety of packages that should fit the
needs and budgets of most people. All the
"package" boards can also be purchased without a rig
(except the Windglider). To buy without a rig, click
here.
Some examples of boards and manufacturers are
listed below.
Bic:
Bic boards have an ASA/fiberglass/epoxy
skin, with an EPS
core which makes them stiffer and
lighter than the Hiflys. They are also durable, but slightly
more expensive. The Bic is a good choice for someone who
expects to advance quickly to the intermediate level.

RRD:
The RRD brand is well known as a high performance board
manufacturer, but also have excellent entry level boards in
their Easy Rider series. Combined with the Ezzy Eagle kids rig
anyone can learn to windsurf on it and smaller sailors and
kids won't outgrow the rig as it is a high performance design.
The RRD has an epoxy/fiberglass/wood skin for light weight and stiffness with an
EPS core.
Windglider:
The
Mistral Windglider is, much different than the traditional
boards and styles above.
It is extremely short, wide, floaty, and very stable. The
inflatable hull makes it easy transport, store and ship, though it
is quite heavy. The
Windglider is a great way to introduce people (especially kids) to windsurfing.

Frequently asked Questions
What size board should I get?
That would depend on the level of sailor you are. It would also
depend on the strength of the wind that you sail in. Sailboards
range in length from around 8' to 12'. in recent years boards have become
much wider so it is important to consider the width and volume in addition
to the length when choosing a board. Generally larger boards are
designed for lighter winds or beginning sailors. Smaller boards are
better suited for more advanced sailors in stronger winds. Larger
sailors will also want a larger board (and sail) than a smaller person in
the same conditions.
