packages Wave sails are
great! They are designed to
be ultra-tough, yet ultra responsive! Wave sails usually don't have
cambers,
although some Bump and Jump or convertible sails will have one or
two removable cambers. While they don't have the rigid draft
of a cambered sail, when rigged correctly modern wave sails are
very stable when overpowered. Because they don't have
cambers they are easier to handle in wave/bump and jump conditions
or for doing freestyle maneuvers, they also have a higher cut foot
for tricks and wave riding. Most beginners find wave
sails easier to use and rig while being more durable as they develop
their skills. Cambered race/slalom sails are better suited to
those looking for high performance in larger sails and lighter
winds. While Ezzy has in the past offered two
or more wave sails, along with a convertible (bump and jump) sail,
demand over the last few years for traditional wave sails
has increased along with the performance of the sails in under and over
powered conditions, so now they make only one wave sail, the Ezzy
Wave SE. The Ezzy Wave SE comes in a range of sizes and is a
non-cambered wave sail that is built to last. Ezzy has
continued the trend of making their wave sails lighter and
expanding the range each year.
Frequently asked Questions
What size mast and boom should I get?
You should get a mast and boom that fit the
sail that you are buying, according to the specifications listed
by the manufacturer (as in the chart above). However you
should also get a boom with enough range to fit other sails that
you already have, or ones that you are planning to get in the
future. Same goes for the mast, get one that is a size that
will work for your sails (manufacturers will generally
list appropriate mast sizes and bend curve specifications for
their sails).
