Hi Sailors,
The La Ventana RV Park is near capacity with the arrival of the "Christmas Crowd" . Traditionally the next two weeks will be the most crowded of the season. Unfortunately the new arrivals were greeted with four unseasonably cool and no wind days. I saw many people walking the beach wondering where the warm weather and wind was. A three day El Norte arrived on Boxing Day in honor of all the Canadians in camp. It was 4.7 but a little up and down in strength, which many sailors described as very gusty...I don't think they have sailed at Rowena on a gusty day.
We are all learning about one of the important lessons we learned in first grade; how to share. With the Christmas crowd, the beach can be a little crowded with all the kites and windsurfing rigs. Unlike Maui and Hood River that have separate beaches for the two sports, in Baja we share the same beach. At this point everyone seems to be doing a good job of sharing and accepting the diversity of the two sports. Safety remains the primary focus and at this point the two groups seem to be coexisting reasonably well. Happy New Year to all, Gary
