Punta San Carlos, Baja Norte, Mexico
There is a tremendous amount of information available on Punta San Carlos that covers every aspect of sailing, camping and traveling there. The information below should give you a general idea of what to expect. back to Baja page

Skill Level: 6-10 Amenities: Primitive camping with pit toilets. Best to arrive fully prepared, but water and other necessities can be obtained from Solo Sports or at the fish camp.
Sailing conditions: From glassy surf to mast high waves and winds of up to 30 knots.

Rigging area: Rig at your camp (if possible), on the road, or on the beach, out of everyone's way of course. If you are staying at Solo sports you get plush astro-turf and a wind break for easy rigging.

Launch: In the bottom of the bay, the arroyos, old mans, or the point. It's all about how far you want to walk.

Parking/Camping: Pay the fee to Solo Sports and claim a spot, or head to the bottom of the bay and camp on your own. San Carlos is windy, and there is little vegetation, so set up camp with adequate shelter from the winds and blowing dirt.

Extras: Nothing but great wind and long waves. Solo Sports has some provisions if you run low, but plan on bringing everything you will need in with you and  hauling your trash back out again when you leave.
Warnings and hazards: Standard Safety Tips
Site specific: Crowds, stingrays and very cold nights.
Special precautions should be taken when sailing in the ocean.  One should always be aware of the local currents, tides and underwater obstacles.
Directions
to get there
:
Drive 5-7 hours south from San Diego on Mex 1 through the town of El Rosario, the last place to obtain supplies. Continue south across the broad arroyo on the south side of town and up the far side. Look for an old battered sign covered in stickers and turn right. Drive 2 hours plus (road conditions depending) west to the point. Road can be muddy for several days after rains, and the arroyos may be impassable at high water.
