conditions: |
Wind blows sideshore to the
launch, but wind is effectiveley off-shore and will take
inexperienced sailors into the bay. Typically 4.5-6.0
sailing with very little chop. Best on Northwest clearing
winds which can blow 50mph. |

| Launch: |
Walk into the small cove, and
around the small rocky point and into the wind. The bottom
of the cove is somewhat sandy, the rest of the area is a
foul smelling, greasy mud. Because of this, some opt for a
slippery sandbagged launch from the north side of the point,
or to only sail here at high tide. |

Safety Tips
Site specific: If you find yourself
here at less than high tide, the mud has all kinds of debris
in it, so tread carefully. There are some submerged pilings
and large rocks in the area as well. NW clearing winds can
strengthen very quickly, the coast guard has picked up
sailors blown into the bay form here.
One should always be aware of the local currents, tides and
underwater obstacles. |

to get there: |
From the east on
I-580, take the Francisco Blvd. exit immediately after the
bridge. Go past the Marin Rid and Gun Club, through the stop
sign, and past the highway entrance, then take the first
right into the industrial park. Head east to the end of the
lot, rig on the sand and grass and launch from the cove. |
