Site specific:
- Very strong current where the Hood
River runs in to the Columbia.
- Shallow sand bars at the mouth of
the Hood River.
- If you get stranded in the middle
of the river, swim to the Washington side, as
that is where the current will take you anyway.
- Summertime can be crowded with
lots of beginners. Watch out for other sailors
