Ezzy Cheetah 2026 Windsurf Sail
High-performance freeride speed with a locked-in profile—without cams.
The Ezzy Cheetah 2026 is a fast, powerful, no-cam freeride sail for sailors who want speed and stability without the extra complexity of camber inducers. For 2026, it gets a cleaner panel layout and updated materials while keeping the hallmark Cheetah feel: easy handling, broad wind range, and a stable profile under load.
- Camless Freeride Performance
- Stable “Cam-like” Drive
- Quick, Simple Rigging
- No Monofilm Construction
- Technora + Dyneema Reinforced
- Calibrated Rigging Marks
What Is the Cheetah?
Fast, Easy, No-Cam Freeride
The Cheetah is built for riders who prioritize speed and stability but prefer a camless sail. It accelerates efficiently, stays composed when powered, and still feels light and neutral in transitions.
Who It’s For
Ideal for freeriders who want a “locked-in” profile without cams. Experts get control and range, while progressing intermediates get predictable handling that’s easier to rig and tune.
What Makes It Different
The Cheetah is designed to deliver cambered-style drive and stability while keeping the rig simpler. Under load, the profile stays stable; when you move into maneuvers, it feels lighter and more neutral.
What We Focused On (2026)
Balanced handling, usable power at both ends of the wind range, and construction intended to handle years of daily use—without the fragile feel that many freeride sails develop over time.
Features
Cam-Like Stability Without Cams
Designed to hold a stable foil shape when powered so the sail stays efficient and composed at speed—without the added parts and rigging steps of cambered systems.
Balanced, Light Handling
A refined freeride feel that stays responsive in hands and easy through transitions, making long reaches and repeated maneuvers feel less tiring.
Built Like a Wave Sail (Freeride DNA, Wave Mindset)
The Cheetah is built with durability-first thinking—more like a wave sail than a typical freeride sail—so it stays reliable in daily use.
No Monofilm
Monofilm often becomes brittle over time. The Cheetah replaces it with stronger long-life materials that stay light and resilient.
Reinforced Materials Package
Scrim and Dyneema-reinforced X-ply plus Technora-reinforced laminates are used to support strength and durability without unnecessary weight.
RBS Epoxy Battens
High-strength epoxy battens are used to support consistent shape and long-term performance, especially in larger freeride sizes.
Factory Rigged, Tuned & Inspected
Each sail is fully rigged in the factory to check luff curve, batten tension, foil symmetry, and smooth panel flow—so it feels “ready” on session one.
Calibrated Rigging = Faster Setup
Downhaul gauges at the tack help eliminate guesswork. Clew markers help fine-tune leech tension—both designed for quick, repeatable setup.
Sail Specs
| Size (m²) | Luff Min (cm) | Luff Max (cm) | Boom Min (cm) | Boom Max (cm) | Battens | Suggested Ezzy Mast (Length / MCS / IMCS) |

| 9.5 | 511 | 515 | 228 | 238 | 7 | 490 / 26 / 29 |
Tip: The larger sizes are built for maximum freeride range. If you want a “one-sail-does-more” feel, the Cheetah is designed to stay comfortable as you tune downhaul and clew tension for the wind you actually have.
Mast Info
Recommended Ezzy Mast System
The “Suggested Ezzy Mast” line in the specs table reflects Ezzy’s mast system approach (length plus stiffness targets). Matching the recommended mast helps the Cheetah feel balanced, stable under load, and consistent across tuning ranges.
Bend Curve Guidance
Ezzy’s published mast bend curve guidance is constant curve, with typical bend targets of approximately 75–79% tip and 62–65% base (bend percentages relative to midpoint bend).
Using Non-Ezzy Masts
The Cheetah can rig well on many quality masts from other brands. If your mast bend is close to constant curve, you can often get excellent results. The key is to use calibrated tuning marks consistently once you find your preferred setting.
Quiver Tip (Mast Mix Strategy)
If you’re building a quiver, start by choosing the mast combo that fits the sail size you use the most, then adjust tops/bottoms around your larger and smaller sizes. This keeps your tuning feel consistent across the range.
Rigging Guide
Quick Rig Workflow
The Cheetah is meant to rig fast and tune wide:
- Set mast + extension for your size
- Downhaul to your preferred reference (start “Mid”)
- Use clew markers to fine-tune leech tension and feel

Magazine Test Highlights
What Testers Notice First
Independent testers often highlight how easy the Cheetah is to rig accurately, then how stable and comfortable it feels on the water—especially in variable wind where you want speed without a “twitchy” sail feel.
Why It Works for Freeride
The Cheetah is frequently described as light, nimble, and smooth in maneuvers, with tuning range that helps it keep pulling through lulls and stay controlled as the wind increases—ideal for comfort-focused freeride sailing.
Note: We keep customers on Windance.com, so we don’t publish off-site links here. If you’d like, we can add a short “Test Notes” accordion in Shopify tabs.
Calibrated Rigging
Downhaul Gauge = No Guesswork
Calibrated rigging marks at the tack are intended to make setup fast and repeatable. Downhaul until the gauge aligns with the bottom of your mast, then use clew markers to fine-tune leech tension.
Consistent Settings, Session After Session
Because each Cheetah is factory-rigged and checked, the calibrated marks are designed to be reliable. Once you find your preferred feel, you can reproduce it quickly—no “trial and error” every time you rig.
