Why Choose the Phantasm Aluminum Mast?
7075 Aircraft-Grade Aluminum
The high-strength aluminum construction creates a durable mast that can handle regular wing, kite, wake and surf-foil use while remaining more affordable than a carbon upgrade.
Phantasm Fuselage Adapter
The included adapter connects the aluminum mast to compatible Slingshot Phantasm fuselages, making it a practical replacement or second mast for an existing Phantasm quiver.
Hover Glide Compatibility
The mast also supports compatible Hover Glide components. This gives riders with an older Slingshot foil collection a way to continue using existing wings, fuselages and stabilizers.
Standard Track Pedestal
The included pedestal mounts to a standard foil-board track, providing fore-and-aft adjustment for balancing the foil beneath different boards.
Complete Mounting Hardware
Slingshot includes 316 stainless-steel Torx hardware and foil-to-board mounting hardware, reducing the number of additional parts required to complete the installation.
Strong Value for Existing Owners
This mast makes the most sense when you already own compatible Phantasm or Hover Glide components. It extends the life and versatility of that foil collection without requiring an entirely new platform.
Slingshot states that the Phantasm aluminum mast is approximately 15% lighter and 12% stronger than the earlier Hover Glide aluminum mast.
Mast Sizes and Specifications
| Size | Mast Length | Published Weight | Recommended Use | Why Choose It? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 72cm | 72cm / 28.3" | 5.07 lb / 2.30kg | Shallow water, prone, wake, kite and early wing-foil progression | Compact control, easier handling and reduced depth requirements |
| 82cm | 82cm / 32.3" | 5.51 lb / 2.50kg | All-around wing foiling, freeride, surf and crossover use | The most versatile balance of control, clearance and maneuverability |
| 92cm | 92cm / 36.2" | 5.95 lb / 2.70kg | Waves, chop, powered winging, kite foiling and deeper water | Additional ride height for rough water and more committed banking |
Which Mast Length Should You Choose?
72cm: Compact and Manageable
Choose the 72cm mast for shallower locations, prone or wake foiling and riders who want less leverage during falls. It is easier to walk into the water and feels manageable during first flights and touchdowns.
- Best for shallow-water access
- Suitable for prone and wake foiling
- Approachable for early progression
- Quick, compact turning response
82cm: Best All-Around Choice
The 82cm mast is the most versatile choice for general wing foiling. It provides useful clearance through moderate chop without adding the depth requirements and leverage of the 92cm option.
- Recommended for most wing foilers
- Balanced for freeride and surf
- Useful crossover length
- Good long-term progression option
92cm: Maximum Clearance
Choose the 92cm mast for deeper water, larger chop and waves or powered kite and wing sessions. Its extra height gives you more room to manage pitch changes and bank through turns.
- More clearance through chop and waves
- Allows deeper banking angles
- Suitable for powered and faster riding
- Requires deeper launch and riding areas
Windance Recommendation
Choose the 82cm for the broadest all-around use. Select the 72cm for shallow water, prone, wake or easier handling. Choose the 92cm when additional clearance in waves and rough water is more important than minimum weight and depth.
Aluminum vs. Phantasm Carbon Mast
| Feature | Phantasm Aluminum Mast | Phantasm Carbon Mast |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | 7075 aircraft-grade aluminum | Carbon construction |
| 72cm Weight | 5.07 lb / 2.30kg | 3.31 lb / 1.50kg |
| 82cm Weight | 5.51 lb / 2.50kg | 3.75 lb / 1.70kg |
| 92cm Weight | 5.95 lb / 2.70kg | 3.97 lb / 1.80kg |
| Ride Character | Dependable, stable and cost-effective | Lighter, more responsive and performance-focused |
| Why Choose It? |
Best Value Choose aluminum for affordability, durability or a second mast. |
Higher Performance Choose carbon to reduce weight and improve response. |
Choose the aluminum mast if you want dependable Phantasm performance at the lowest cost. Choose the Phantasm carbon mast when reduced system weight and more immediate feedback justify the additional investment.
Phantasm vs. One-Lock Mast
| System | Compatible Foil Components | Best Reason to Choose It |
|---|---|---|
| Phantasm Aluminum Mast | Compatible Phantasm and Hover Glide components using the correct supplied adapter and hardware | Best for maintaining, repairing or expanding an existing Phantasm or Hover Glide foil quiver |
| One-Lock Mast | Slingshot One-Lock front wings and stabilizers | Best for riders building a new setup around Slingshot’s current quick-connect foil platform |
Compatibility warning: The Phantasm Aluminum Mast is not directly compatible with Slingshot One-Lock front wings or stabilizers. One-Lock, Phantasm and Hover Glide are different foil systems.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this mast include the pedestal?
Yes. The foil-board pedestal, Phantasm fuselage adapter, installation hardware and padded mast cover are included.
What is the best all-around size?
The 82cm is the best all-around choice for most wing foilers because it balances useful ride height with manageable control and water-depth requirements.
Can I use it with Hover Glide components?
Slingshot lists the mast as compatible with Phantasm and Hover Glide products. Always use the correct adapter and hardware for the selected fuselage.
Will it fit One-Lock wings?
No. This mast belongs to the Phantasm and Hover Glide ecosystem and is not directly compatible with Slingshot One-Lock foil components.
Why choose the 72cm?
Choose 72cm for shallower water, prone or wake foiling and a compact setup that feels manageable during learning, takeoffs and touchdowns.
Why choose the carbon version?
The Phantasm carbon mast is substantially lighter and delivers more immediate response. The aluminum mast remains the stronger value for recreational riding and existing-system support.
