North Ranger or Rover Parawing?

Choose the North Rover for Versatile Freeride

The Rover is the broader freeride choice. Its smooth traction, useful upwind ability and natural handling suit riders who want to explore, reposition and repeat runs before packing the canopy away for hands-free foiling. Rover packages include useful 3.5m, 4.2m and 5.0m options.

Choose the North Ranger for Dedicated Downwind

The Ranger is the more specialized downwind option. Its super-short bridles, single-skin design and compact pack-away format are focused on using wind power to reach foil speed, then stowing the wing to ride swell hands-free. Ranger packages include 3.2m and 4.2m options.

The package boards stay within the practical 71L–95L range selected for these setups, but volume alone does not determine stability. Width, length, rider weight, water state and starting technique all matter.

Choose the Foil for the Way You Want to Ride

Sonar DW900 or DW1100 + S192

Choose the Sonar DW setup for low drag, long glide and downwind efficiency. The DW1100 adds lift and low-speed support; the DW900 is the faster and more compact choice for riders who can maintain speed confidently. Both are paired with the fixed S192 Glide stabilizer.

Sonar HA1050 or HA1150 + S208

Choose the Sonar HA setup for speed, efficient glide, carving and performance freeride. The HA1150 adds lift and connection through softer sections; the HA1050 feels faster and more responsive. Both are paired with the fixed S208 Speed V2 stabilizer.

Why do foil packages include two stabilizers? The Sonar Carbon Foil Edition arrives with an S270 as part of its factory configuration. Each Windance foil package adds the more appropriate S192 for DW wings or S208 for HA wings. You receive the performance-matched stabilizer plus the original S270 as an alternate tail or spare.

What Makes These Packages Complete?

Purpose-Matched Components

Board shape, parawing style, front-wing program and stabilizer are selected around the same goal: stable downwind access, versatile freeride exploration, or responsive surf and carving performance.

Correct Foil Tail Pairing

Foil-inclusive packages do not rely on the factory S270 for every front wing. They add a fixed S192 or S208 stabilizer selected specifically for the included DW or HA options.

Mast-to-Board Hardware

Foil-inclusive packages add a fixed North DropBox 30mm Screw Pack with four M8 × 30mm countersunk T40 screws and four T-nuts for the CF85 mast-to-board connection.

Leash Selected by Package Level

Standard packages use a North waist board leash. Premium Carbon packages use a Blue Planet retractable reel leash system to keep excess line managed during normal riding.

Who Are These Parawing Packages For?

These packages are designed primarily for riders with existing foil experience. A parawing is compact and rewarding, but launching, managing short bridles, standing on a narrow board, building takeoff speed and packing the canopy on the water all require coordination. The FREE SURF and Sonar HA configurations are especially performance-oriented; they should not be treated as first-time foil packages.

If you are newer to parawinging but already foil confidently, look first at a higher-volume FREE DW board, the more supportive DW1100 front wing and a parawing size appropriate for your actual wind. More experienced riders may prefer the lower swing weight of FREE SURF, the speed of HA1050 or DW900, or the reduced weight and direct response of the Carbon packages.

Open-water safety matters: downwind and hands-free swell sessions require training, route planning, suitable flotation and impact protection, reliable communication and visibility equipment, an appropriate leash system, weather and current awareness, and dependable assistance. Do not attempt unfamiliar downwind routes alone.

What is the difference between Sonar DW and HA foil packages?

Sonar DW front wings emphasize low drag, long glide and open-water downwind efficiency. Sonar HA front wings emphasize speed, efficient glide, carving and performance freeride. The packages pair DW wings with S192 and HA wings with S208 rather than relying only on the factory S270.

Why will I receive two stabilizers with a foil package?

The Sonar Carbon Foil Edition includes an S270 from the factory. The package adds the S192 or S208 selected for the DW or HA front wing, so both stabilizers are delivered intentionally.

Are foil-to-board screws and track nuts included?

Yes, in every foil-inclusive package. A fixed North DropBox 30mm Screw Pack supplies four M8 × 30mm countersunk T40 screws and four T-nuts for the CF85 mast-to-board connection. Internal front-wing, fuselage and stabilizer hardware is supplied with the relevant foil components.

Are these packages suitable for first-time foilers?

Generally, no. They are intended primarily for riders who can already control foil height, recover from touchdowns and manage a narrow board.
