Premium Light-Wind Performance

2026 North Loft Pro Wing

A deep-profile, ultra-stiff light-wind wing designed for instant lift, efficient forward drive and longer flight through marginal conditions.

The 2026 North Loft Pro Wing is built for wing foilers who want to make borderline light-wind sessions genuinely rideable. Its deep profile generates powerful low-end drive, while the ultra-stiff N-Weave45 airframe converts even small increases in wind pressure into forward momentum. A lightweight N-HTRS canopy, Carbon UDi leading-edge reinforcement and compact low-aspect outline help this large wing feel responsive, reduce tip strikes and carry the rider through lulls. Available in 6m, 7m and 8m sizes matched to rider weight and height, the Loft Pro is designed so most riders need only one size to complete the light-wind end of their quiver.

  • Dedicated Light-Wind Wing
  • 6–16-Knot Range
  • N-Weave45 Airframe
  • N-HTRS Canopy
  • Carbon UDi Reinforcement
  • 6m / 7m / 8m

Why Choose the Loft Pro?

Instant Low-End Lift

The deep profile produces substantial power per square meter, helping accelerate the board and generate lift without waiting for a strong gust.

Carries Through Wind Lulls

Efficient forward drive helps maintain foil speed when the breeze softens, allowing longer flights and fewer touchdowns in marginal conditions.

Stiff, Direct Power Delivery

N-Weave45 and internal Carbon UDi reinforcement reduce airframe deflection, converting pumping input into usable forward acceleration instead of unwanted flex.

Compact for a Large Wing

A lower-aspect outline and curved wingtips reduce span relative to the wing’s power, helping prevent tip strikes during pumping, starts and low-speed transitions.

Positive Lift Through Maneuvers

The refined entry profile provides upward support during tacks, gybes and slow transitions, helping the board remain on foil when speed is limited.

One-Wing Light-Wind Solution

All three sizes share the same published 6–16-knot range. The correct size is selected mainly by rider weight and height, allowing one Loft Pro to cover the light-wind portion of a quiver.

Windance recommendation: Choose the Loft Pro when getting on foil early and staying airborne through lulls are your main priorities. It is best for dedicated light-wind freeriding rather than maximum speed, powered freestyle or wave-specific drift.

What Type of Riding Is It Best For?

Riding Style Suitability How the Loft Pro Performs
Light Wind Excellent The Loft Pro’s deep profile, rigid airframe and efficient forward drive are specifically designed for 6–16-knot conditions.
Light-Wind Freeride Excellent Strong low-end power, efficient upwind angles and support through slow maneuvers make it ideal for cruising in marginal wind.
Beginner Progression Good with the Right Setup Its power can help larger or progressing riders get moving, but a standard Nova is more forgiving and better suited to general learning conditions.
Freefly / Downwind Good The wing maintains a stable neutral position when trailering, although its large sizes make it less specialized than a dedicated surf wing.
Freestyle / Jumping Secondary The rigid airframe provides response, but the Mode Pro is faster and better suited to powered boosting and freestyle.
Wave Riding Occasional Use The compact span helps maneuverability, but the Nova Pro provides more balanced surf and freefly performance in stronger wind.
Racing Not Race-Specific The Loft Pro is efficient in light wind, but the Mode Ultra is North’s dedicated VMG and Formula race design.

Wing Sizes, Rider Weight and Wind Range

Wing Size Ideal Rider Weight Wingspan North Wind Range Inflation Pressure
6.0m Under 70kg 3.35m 6–16 knots 8 PSI
7.0m 60–80kg 3.60m 6–16 knots 7 PSI
8.0m Over 80kg 3.75m 6–16 knots 7 PSI
Different sizing method: The 6m, 7m and 8m are all optimized for the same 6–16-knot range. Choose according to rider weight, height, skill and foil setup—not because the 8m is rated for a lower minimum wind speed.
Wing-weight note: North’s current Loft Pro specification chart does not publish numerical wing weights. Any listed wing weight excludes the separately sold ShiftLock handles or boom.

Which Loft Pro Size Should You Choose?

Lighter or Shorter Riders

Choose the 6m if you weigh under approximately 70kg or want the narrowest span and lowest swing weight. It is easier for smaller riders to pump and keep clear of the water.

Average-Weight Riders

The 7m is North’s middle option for riders around 60–80kg. It balances additional sail area with a manageable 3.60m wingspan.

Heavier or Taller Riders

Choose the 8m if you weigh more than approximately 80kg or have the height and reach to manage its 3.75m span comfortably.

Board and Foil Matter

A high-volume board and larger, efficient foil can reduce the wing power required for takeoff. A smaller or faster foil may require more board speed and a larger Loft Pro size.

Premium Construction and Technology

Ultra-Stiff N-Weave45 Airframe

North’s high-tensile woven material uses a 45-degree laminate to control biaxial stretch and torsion, creating a rigid and responsive structure with efficient power transfer.

Lightweight N-HTRS Canopy

The lightweight canopy helps reduce swing weight and inertia in these larger sizes while maintaining the tension required for responsive light-wind performance.

Carbon UDi Technology

Unidirectional carbon tapes run inside the entire leading edge to reduce deflection and improve snapback after pumping or changes in wind pressure.

Deep Power Profile

A deeper profile produces direct low-end power and forward drive, helping the board accelerate and supporting continued flight when the wind becomes lighter.

Thin Leading Edge

Despite the powerful profile, the leading edge remains streamlined to reduce drag, improve upwind efficiency and help the wing feel more agile in flight.

Low-Aspect Compact Outline

Reduced span and curved wingtips lower the chance of catching the water. If a tip does touch down, the curvature reduces drag and improves recovery.

Radial Panel Layout

Radial canopy panels and load diffusers distribute forces through the sail, supporting even tension and a stable profile during pumping and powered riding.

Dual HyperFlow Inflation

Separate leading-edge and strut valves connected by a hose allow efficient inflation while supporting the independent pressures required by the airframe.

N-Weave45 vs. Standard Dacron

The Loft Pro is a premium light-wind wing. It replaces the conventional N-Dure Dacron airframe used on North’s standard Nova with an ultra-stiff N-Weave45 structure and pairs it with a lightweight N-HTRS canopy.

  • Standard N-Dure Dacron: delivers a more forgiving flex pattern and accessible all-around handling.
  • N-Weave45: provides greater stiffness with less structural movement for more immediate pumping response and direct forward drive.
  • N-HTRS canopy: reduces unnecessary swing weight in the large 6m–8m sizes while maintaining controlled sail tension.
  • Carbon UDi: reinforces the inflatable leading edge with internal carbon tapes; it is not a solid carbon leading edge.
Material clarification: The Loft Pro does not use ALUULA. North creates its premium light-wind structure with N-Weave45, lightweight N-HTRS canopy fabric and internal Carbon UDi reinforcement.

Loft Pro vs. Other North Wings

North Wing Primary Focus Construction and Handling Why Choose It?
2026 Loft Pro Dedicated marginal wind Deep profile, full N-Weave45 airframe and lightweight N-HTRS canopy Choose it for maximum low-end power, earlier takeoff and better flight through lulls.
2026 Nova 7m Accessible light-wind freeride N-Dure Dacron airframe, N-RS3 canopy and included GripLock Carbon Boom Choose it for a more affordable, forgiving and versatile large wing with the boom included.
2026 Nova Pro Performance freeride and surf Hybrid N-Weave45 and Matrix construction with balanced trailering Choose it for carving, freefly and broader use across moderate wind conditions.
2026 Mode Pro Speed, powered freeride and boosting Full N-Weave45 airframe and Matrix canopy with a flatter, faster profile Choose it for high-speed acceleration, jumping and high-end stability.
Mode Ultra Formula racing and VMG Partial double skin and specialized low-drag race profile Choose it for race-course efficiency rather than maximum low-speed lift.
Why buy the Loft Pro? Choose it instead of simply upsizing an all-around wing when your priority is the earliest possible takeoff and dependable flight in 6–16 knots. Choose the Nova 7m if value, forgiving handling and an included boom are more important.

ShiftLock Handles vs. Boom

Two 500mm Handles

North specifies one 500mm front handle and one 500mm rear handle for every Loft Pro size. This setup provides distinct hand positions and direct control through the ergonomic strut.

1100mm Carbon Boom

The recommended 1100mm boom provides continuous hand placement, easier hand changes and a lighter complete handle configuration with only two mounting points.

400mm Front J-Handle

A 400mm ShiftLock J-Handle can be used at the front to support a more natural wrist and elbow position during long light-wind sessions.

Adjustable Track Position

The ShiftLock track allows the selected handles or boom to slide into a customized position for rider reach, stance and preferred balance.

Important: ShiftLock Carbon handles, J-Handle and boom are sold separately. Every Loft Pro size is designed for either two 500mm handles or the 1100mm boom.
