2026 F-One ROCKET FREE DOWNWIND CARBON Wing Foil Board

Maximum glide, dependable stability and rapid acceleration for downwind and freefly foiling.

The 2026 F-One ROCKET FREE DOWNWIND CARBON combines the glide of an elongated downwind board with the volume and stability needed for challenging takeoffs. Designed for pocket-wing, K-Wing, parawing and SUP foil sessions, its stretched outline accelerates efficiently and helps riders connect bumps after the wing or paddle has been stashed or flagged out. Lightweight HD Foam Carbon Composite construction keeps the board stiff, responsive and easy to pump once airborne.

Why You’ll Love the ROCKET FREE DOWNWIND CARBON

Glide That Makes Takeoffs Easier

The long, stretched outline builds speed efficiently, giving you more time and momentum to lift onto foil during downwind, pocket-wing and paddle-powered starts.

Stable When Conditions Get Messy

Optimized volume, a wider nose and squarer rails provide useful stability during starts—even when the wind is light, the water is choppy or the board is underpowered.

Responsive Carbon Performance

The lightweight and stiff carbon construction improves pumping response, maneuverability and foil feedback without burdening the elongated shape with unnecessary weight.

Built for Freefly Freedom

Use a pocket wing, K-Wing, parawing or paddle to get moving, then stash or flag it out and ride the swell using the board’s natural glide and balance.

Technical Features

Elongated Downwind Outline

The stretched shape increases waterline length for stronger glide, smoother acceleration and more efficient takeoffs than a compact wing board.

Optimized Volume Distribution

Carefully placed volume supports early planing and balanced flotation while giving the rider a stable platform for standing, kneeling or paddle starts.

Rear Step and Kicktail

A rear step and kicktail help release the board from the water, allowing it to accelerate efficiently while making brief touchdowns smoother and easier to recover from.

Shallow Cockpit

The recessed deck keeps the rider connected to the board and foil without adding excessive rail thickness, improving balance and underfoot control.

Stable Nose and Rail Geometry

A wider nose, generous bottom surface and squarer rails make the FREE DOWNWIND more stable than the performance-focused FREE SURF.

F-One Balance Underfoot

Natural front-to-rear balance with slightly front-biased foot pressure creates a familiar F-One feel and helps control the board through acceleration and lift-off.

HD Foam Carbon Composite

High-density foam, fiberglass and carbon fiber create a light, stiff sandwich construction with strength against heel pressure and everyday impacts.

Extended Carbon Twin-Tracks

Industry-standard 90mm tracks accept four-bolt foil mast plates. Their extended adjustment range provides more room to fine-tune mast position and board balance.

Which Size Should You Choose?

6'4" — 85L

The most compact and responsive option. Best for lighter or highly experienced riders who want reduced swing weight and are comfortable starting on lower volume.

6'8" — 95L

A performance-oriented size for experienced riders seeking more flotation than the 85L while retaining a compact, lively feel once airborne.

7'0" — 104L

The middle of the range, balancing glide, manageable dimensions and useful stability for versatile pocket-wing, parawing and downwind sessions.

7'4" — 114L

Adds flotation and stability for larger riders or challenging starts while preserving the narrow, efficient outline needed for fast acceleration.

7'8" — 124L

The highest-volume and most stable option. Ideal when easy starts, flotation, lighter conditions or SUP foil accessibility are the main priorities.

Choosing Between Sizes

Choose more volume for choppy water, lighter wind, paddle starts and easier recovery. Choose less volume for reduced swing weight and a more responsive feel in swell.

Sizing guidance: Volume alone does not determine stability. Rider weight, experience, water conditions, wing or paddle choice and foil size all matter. Riders learning downwind or freefly disciplines should generally avoid choosing a marginal-volume board.

FREE DOWNWIND vs. FREE SURF

Category ROCKET FREE DOWNWIND ROCKET FREE SURF
Primary Focus Glide, stability, acceleration and easier takeoffs Maneuverability, surf response and committed turns
Shape Increased thickness, wider nose and bottom surface, squarer rails More compact, surf-oriented platform
Conditions Downwind runs, pocket wing, K-Wing, parawing and SUP foil Waves, bumps and surf-focused freefly sessions
Choose It When You prioritize stable starts and maintaining glide through changing conditions You prioritize maximum maneuverability once already on foil

Foil Compatibility and Setup

Compatible Foils

  • Industry-standard 90mm twin-track spacing
  • Compatible with masts using a four-bolt top plate
  • Extended tracks allow broad mast-position adjustment
  • Not designed for Tuttle-style mast connections

Mast Position

  • Start near the center of the tracks unless your foil manufacturer specifies otherwise
  • Move the mast forward for earlier lift and increased front-foot pressure
  • Move the mast back for greater control and reduced front-foot pressure
  • Make small adjustments and test one change at a time

Who Is This Board For?

Best Use Cases

  • Pocket-wing, K-Wing and parawing freefly sessions
  • Wing-powered or paddle-powered downwind foiling
  • SUP foiling where glide and early acceleration matter
  • Riders connecting swell in open-ocean conditions

Performance Priorities

  • Maximum glide before and after takeoff
  • Stable starts in chop or marginal power
  • Efficient acceleration with a wing or paddle
  • Lightweight, direct carbon foil response
Downwind safety: Downwind foiling requires physical preparation, appropriate training and proper safety equipment. F-One recommends using devices such as a leash, flashlight and safety vest, arranging assistance at sea, and never attempting downwinders alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a conventional wing foil board?

It can be used with a handheld wing, but its longer, narrower shape is optimized for downwind, pocket-wing, parawing, K-Wing and SUP foil disciplines rather than compact freestyle winging.

Can it be used for SUP foiling?

Yes. F-One specifically recommends the FREE DOWNWIND for SUP foiling. Choose enough volume for your weight, ability and expected water conditions.

Why choose Carbon?

The HD Foam Carbon Composite construction is light and stiff, producing more direct foil feedback, faster pumping response and improved maneuverability.

How does it differ from the Bamboo version?

The Carbon and Bamboo versions share the same shape and intended program. The Carbon model emphasizes lower weight, increased stiffness and a more direct ride.

What foil mounts will fit?

The Carbon Twin-Tracks use standard 90mm spacing and accept hydrofoil masts equipped with a conventional four-bolt top plate.

Does every size have a carry handle?

Yes. F-One lists an integrated carry handle on all five sizes from the 6'4" 85L through the 7'8" 124L.
