The 2024 Slingshot Ghost V3 is built for riders who want one easy, efficient kite for freeriding, kite foiling, surfboards and light-wind sessions. Its lightweight one-strut FrameLITE airframe stays airborne through lulls, while the compact swept-C shape delivers quick pivot turns, light bar pressure and predictable power. Unlike Slingshot’s zero-strut UFO, the Ghost retains enough structure for dependable relaunch, twin-tip riding and recreational jumping.
The Ghost V3 occupies the useful middle ground between an ultralight foil kite and a conventional three-strut freeride kite. It is lighter and better at drifting than most three-strut models, but the center strut provides more structure, relaunch support and all-board versatility than a zero-strut design.
It is particularly well suited to riders dealing with inconsistent wind, traveling with multiple board types or building a light-wind quiver. Beginners who have completed lessons will appreciate its sheet-and-go power and simple relaunch, while experienced riders can take advantage of its fast pivoting turns, efficient upwind flight and adjustable handling.
Smooth power delivery, light steering and swept wingtips make the Ghost approachable after lessons. The center strut helps the kite hold its shape on the water for relaunch. A conventional three-strut kite can provide more canopy support in very gusty, powered conditions, but the Ghost is one of the friendlier lightweight designs.
The Ghost is an excellent relaxed freeride kite. It provides easy sheet-and-go power, efficient upwind travel and low steering effort. Riders can cruise, carve and practice transitions without constantly working to keep the kite correctly positioned.
The light airframe resists falling during lulls, while low bridle drag and fast pivoting turns help generate controlled power for water starts. Excellent drift allows the rider to move toward the kite without immediately losing line tension. Choose the UFO V3 only if maximum foil-specific drift and minimum weight are more important than all-board versatility.
A compact arc, swept wingtips and low overall weight let the Ghost follow the rider down the line with minimal kite management. Its pivoting turns are useful for redirecting on a wave, although the three-strut SST V7 offers a more supported and surf-specific feel when riding heavily powered.
Light-wind efficiency is one of the Ghost’s main strengths. The one-strut structure reduces weight, while the 12m, 15m and 17m sizes extend coverage into marginal conditions. The very bottom of the published range is most realistic with an efficient foil or large light-wind board.
The Ghost can produce enjoyable recreational jumps and smooth float, but explosive boosting, powered loops and unhooked freestyle are not its specialties. Choose the Slingshot Code for stronger lift and all-around freestyle, or a Machine-series kite when Big Air and hangtime are the priorities.
The lightweight frame and compact swept-C outline produce quick, pivoting turns. The single luff-strut construction allows the canopy to form a cleaner aerodynamic profile, helping the kite turn with less drag. Smaller sizes react very quickly, while the 15m and 17m remain manageable for their size.
Bar pressure is light, reducing fatigue during longer foil and freeride sessions. Slingshot’s Rider Customization System provides multiple connection and line-adjustment options for changing steering speed, power delivery, angle of attack and bar pressure.
The Ghost produces smooth sheet-and-go pull rather than an aggressive surge. Its concave trailing edge and swept tips support responsive power management across a broad range. Sheeting out reduces power progressively, which is helpful when foiling or controlling speed on a wave.
The single center strut supports the canopy when the kite is on the water, while the swept wingtips encourage it to roll toward a relaunch position. Relaunch is simple in normal riding wind. As with every inflatable kite, relaunch becomes less dependable near the extreme bottom of the wind range.
Drift is a standout characteristic. Low frame weight, the compact arc and a bridle tuned for light wind allow the Ghost to follow the rider during downwind foil runs and wave sections without demanding constant steering input.
The Ghost offers controlled recreational boost with forgiving takeoffs and smooth landings. Its lightweight construction helps it climb and remain responsive, but a three- or five-strut Big Air kite supplies more canopy support, explosive lift and hangtime when heavily loaded.
FrameLITE is a 160 g/m² high-tenacity polyester material with biaxial gridding and an emulsion coating designed to resist elongation. It balances weight, stiffness, flex and long-term durability. It is a premium-quality polyester construction, but it is not ALUULA.
One center strut provides enough structure for predictable handling and relaunch while eliminating the weight and drag of additional struts. This helps the kite stay airborne in marginal wind and improves drift when the rider travels toward it.
The luff-strut design separates much of the center strut from the canopy, allowing the canopy to assume a more natural aerodynamic profile. The goal is reduced drag, faster turning and cleaner control without removing the structural benefit of the strut.
Slingshot’s reinforced ripstop nylon uses a 4-by-4 yarn layout to limit stretch and improve tear resistance. The controlled stretch helps the canopy retain its designed profile and keeps steering response consistent over repeated sessions.
TrimFlight bridle lines are 25% thinner than Slingshot’s earlier standard lines, reducing parasitic drag. Bridle geometry is tuned to complement the Ghost’s light-wind efficiency, drift and responsive steering.
A compact, moderate-to-lower-aspect arc with swept wingtips produces fast pivoting turns, easy roll-to-relaunch behavior and balanced drift. The concave trailing edge helps the kite manage power across changing wind strengths.
Multiple tuning options allow riders to alter rear-line and power-line relationships. These adjustments change steering speed, bar pressure, power and angle of attack, making it possible to tune the Ghost for freeride, foil or wave-oriented sessions.
Increased hose diameters improve airflow between the leading edge and center strut for faster inflation and deflation. Repositioned tubes provide a cleaner, more streamlined installation with improved durability.
FrameLITE is Slingshot’s lightweight high-tenacity polyester airframe material. It should not be confused with ALUULA or another laminated high-modulus composite. The Code NXT is a separate premium Big Air model rather than an upgraded Ghost.
The Ghost V4 is the newer generation, not a parallel premium version of the V3. It retains the one-strut FrameLITE and 4X4 Canopy concept while adding a refined canopy layout, reinforced center strut and updated inflation system. Choose the V4 for the newest refinements; choose the V3 when its proven performance and lower price offer the better value.
