Why the Slalom Foil GEN2 Is Faster
Optimized Top-End Speed
GEN2 was refined to increase pure top-end speed while making that performance easier to access, helping foil racers push harder without fighting the rig.
Light Handling in Flight
Significant weight savings allow the sail to feel less noticeable in the rider’s hands, leaving more attention available for trimming the foil and board.
Smooth Buoy Rotation
Soft rotation helps the rider tighten the arc around a buoy and hold an inside racing line without the sail resisting the maneuver.
Rapid Power-Up
Once the sail rotates onto the new tack, its profile powers up quickly to produce an immediate burst of acceleration out of the turn.
3Di Race Technology
3Di Molded Construction
North’s three-dimensional molding process builds the intended flying shape directly into the sail, supporting precise profile control and stability at racing speeds.
One-Piece Monocoque Structure
The sail body and luff pocket function together as one seamless structural system, creating an efficient connection between rig tension, profile and power delivery.
Dyneema Aramid Helix SL
3Di Dyneema Aramid tape material uses a Dyneema Aramid Helix SL load path to manage structural loads while maintaining responsive, lightweight handling.
3Di Composite Luff Sleeve
The composite luff sleeve is integrated with the sail body to support efficient airflow, profile stability and a cleaner monocoque structure.
Race-Specific Features
Inflatable Air Cam System
The lightweight Air Cam matches the sail’s aerodynamic profile, improving airflow and profile stability while helping lock power into the rig.
Splitting Batten Pockets
Split batten pockets and battens work with the Air Cam system to control the profile, retain power and maximize acceleration and speed.
Integrated Reinforcements
Structural reinforcements are incorporated into the molded sail body to support highly loaded areas without unnecessary external layers.
Integrated Batten Pockets
Integrated pockets create a clean structural connection between the battens and sail body while maintaining the designed race profile.
Rock-it Batten Tensioners
North’s Rock-it system provides secure batten-tension adjustment for maintaining the intended shape and batten support.
EZ Clew
Alternate clew settings allow racers to fine-tune boom length, power delivery and handling for their size, setup and conditions.
EZ Downhaul Race
The race-specific downhaul system supports accurate luff-tension setup for maximizing profile stability and foil-racing performance.
Large Clear Windows
Large PVC or monofilm windows improve visibility around crowded start lines, race marks and other competitors on the course.
