Premium Freeride / Surf / Freestyle Wing
2025 North Nova Pro Wing
A light, crisp and highly versatile performance wing for riders who want premium construction without giving up stability, low-end power or wave-riding control.
The 2025 North Nova Pro is North’s premium all-around wing foil wing, designed for fast freeriding, carving swell, freefly, boosting and freestyle. Its hybrid N-Weave45 airframe, 80% Matrix canopy and full-length Carbon UDi reinforcement produce a more direct response, cleaner profile and lower-drag feel than the standard Nova. At the same time, flexible Dacron wingtips help the Nova Pro remain controlled and stable when powered up.

Why Choose This Wing?
Premium All-Around Performance
Choose the Nova Pro if you want one premium wing platform capable of freeriding, jumping, freestyle and riding waves. It delivers noticeably more precision and performance than an entry-level wing while remaining more versatile than a dedicated race or light-wind design.
Light, Crisp Handling
N-Weave45 in the center leading edge and strut creates a stiff, reactive connection between rider and wing. A thinner leading edge, streamlined profile and Carbon UDi reinforcement help reduce drag and improve acceleration and upwind efficiency.
Stable for Surf and Freefly
Refined geometry reduces sensitivity to changes in angle of attack. The wing remains balanced when flagged behind you, making the Nova Pro especially effective for carving swell, downwind riding and wave sessions.
Customizable ShiftLock Control
North’s ShiftLock track lets you select separate carbon handles, an ergonomic J-Handle or a carbon boom. Riders can tune control placement to their stance and choose between precise handle positioning or easy hand transitions on a boom.
Who Is the Nova Pro Best For?
| Riding Style | Suitability | How It Performs |
|---|---|---|
| Freeride | Excellent | Efficient power, fast upwind angles and a wide usable wind range make this one of North’s most versatile premium freeride wings. |
| Wave Riding | Excellent | Low swing weight and balanced trailering help the wing remain neutral while carving waves or following swell downwind. |
| Freefly / Downwind | Excellent | Stable geometry and reduced oscillation make the Nova Pro easy to control when depowered or carried behind the rider. |
| Freestyle / Jumping | Excellent | Positive lift, low-end power and fast airframe recovery support pop, rotations, boosting and smooth landings. |
| Beginner Progression | Good | Stable and predictable enough for progressing riders, although the standard Nova is more forgiving and includes its boom. |
| Racing / Maximum Speed | Very Good | Fast and efficient upwind, but riders focused primarily on speed, VMG or powered racing should consider the Mode Pro. |
| Light Wind | Very Good | The 6.2m offers strong low-end performance, while the larger North Loft Pro sizes are more specialized for marginal-wind sessions. |
Construction and Performance
Hybrid N-Weave45 Airframe
High-tensile N-Weave45 is used in the strut and center leading-edge section, where stiffness and response matter most. More flexible Dacron wingtips allow controlled twist and make the wing less harsh in gusty conditions.
80% Matrix Canopy
The increased Matrix canopy area improves torsional strength, load capacity and shape stability. Lighter N-HTRS material at the front of the canopy helps create a clean entry and smooth airflow.
Carbon UDi Reinforcement
Lightweight, unidirectional carbon tapes run through the entire leading edge. They limit deflection and help the airframe recover its shape quickly after gusts, jumps and aggressive maneuvers.
Active Twist Wingtips
Tapered leading-edge diameters and flexible Dacron tips let the wing twist and release excess power. This reduces drag and swing weight while improving control near the top of the wind range.
Positive Lift and Low-End Power
The refined profile maintains smooth airflow through angle-of-attack changes. The result is reliable low-end pull, positive nose lift through transitions, and improved loft for jumps and freestyle.
Reduced Drag and Better Upwind Angles
A thinner leading edge and slimmer profile make the Nova Pro feel more agile and streamlined. Radial panel cuts and load diffusers maintain cleaner canopy tension for efficient power delivery.
Contoured GeoStrut
The segmented strut places the rider’s hands and wrists in a more natural position. This can reduce arm and elbow fatigue, particularly when the wing is configured with two separate handles.
Visibility and Inflation
Long LiteVision windows improve downwind visibility. Connected Dual HyperFlow valves allow independent leading-edge and strut pressures while retaining convenient single-point inflation and deflation.

Handles or Boom?
ShiftLock Carbon Handles
Separate handles provide direct control and allow targeted hand positioning. All Nova Pro sizes are compatible with North’s 250mm handles and 400mm J-Handle. The curved J-Handle promotes a more natural wrist angle.
ShiftLock Carbon Boom
The boom makes it easier to slide your hands during tacks and transitions. Because it requires only two track mounts, North identifies the boom as the lightest ShiftLock control configuration.
- 2.9m: Compatible with the 950mm boom only.
- 3.5m: Compatible with the 950mm or 1100mm boom. The Action Camera Mount requires the 950mm boom.
- 4.2–6.2m: Compatible with the 1100mm boom.
- All sizes: Compatible with 250mm carbon handles and the 400mm Carbon J-Handle.
