2026 F-ONE FRIGATE 2 Parawing

Faster upwind, quicker to stash and more consistent across an exceptionally wide wind range.

The 2026 F-ONE FRIGATE 2 is a performance-focused parawing for intermediate to experienced foilers who want to ride efficiently upwind, pack the wing away and spend more time freeflying downwind. Its higher-aspect profile, additional ribs and refined canopy tension deliver sharper acceleration, increased top speed and improved pumping response, especially at the low end.

Version 2 also makes the catch-and-stash process cleaner. A new Double Dynamic Bridle System uses fewer connection points, the bridles are shorter, and F-ONE’s Pack Assist system quickly neutralizes the wing before packing. A new vertical carbon bar improves ergonomics and extends the available depower for greater control when the wind builds.

Why Choose the FRIGATE 2?

Serious Upwind Performance

The higher-aspect profile and optimized rib layout improve efficiency on the upwind leg. The FRIGATE 2 accelerates more sharply and reaches a higher top speed, helping you gain ground before turning downwind.

Wider Usable Wind Range

Smooth power at the low end combines with increased stability and depower at the high end. This gives each size more versatility as conditions rise, fall or become gusty.

Improved Low-End Pumping

Additional ribs increase canopy tautness and responsiveness. The wing reacts more directly to pumping inputs, helping generate efficient power during lower-wind starts and acceleration.

Faster Catch and Stash

Shorter bridles, fewer connection points and the Pack Assist system simplify handling before, during and after a run while reducing opportunities for the bridles to tangle.

Greater High-Wind Control

The vertical carbon bar increases the available depower range and provides a more supportive grip near the front bridles, improving comfort and control when riding powered.

Compact Downwind Freedom

Once neutralized and packed, the FRIGATE 2 removes the drag and visual obstruction of an open wing, leaving you free to follow bumps, carve and connect downwind sections.

Windance recommendation: Choose the FRIGATE 2 if speed, upwind angle, acceleration and performance across changing wind are your priorities. Riders buying their first parawing should consider the more accessible F-ONE QUEST.

FRIGATE 2 Technology

Higher-Aspect Profile

The refined profile is designed around efficient forward movement. It converts rider input into stronger acceleration, improved upwind ability and increased top-end speed.

D-Ribs

D-ribs manage canopy tension and control while allowing F-ONE to reduce the number of bridles. The result is improved rigidity, glide and usable wind range.

Double Dynamic Bridle System

The system removes the B-connector from the bar without introducing a yoke, pulley or complicated bridle layout. This cleaner arrangement provides precise feedback and intuitive power control with fewer potential tangles.

Pack Assist

Pack Assist uses a set of front bridles to remove power immediately. Slide your hand a short distance along the white spliced bridles and the parawing becomes neutral, making it easier to gather and stash.

Vertical Carbon Bar

A molded section and additional length at the front improve grip and comfort near the front bridles. The bar also provides an effective support point during powered, high-wind riding.

Ultra Light Ribs

Every size uses F-ONE’s Ultra Light Ribs Technology to reduce weight while retaining the stiffness required for responsive handling and efficient pumping.

Size-Specific Optimization

Each FRIGATE 2 size is individually optimized to maintain consistent performance and intuitive handling rather than simply scaling one identical design across the range.

Large-Size Hybrid Fabric

The 5.5 and 6.5m² sizes use a hybrid fabric construction in the trailing section that is 20% lighter. F-ONE uses this targeted weight reduction to improve responsiveness, airborne stability and low-end performance.

FRIGATE 2 vs. F-ONE QUEST

Model Primary Character Official Performance Focus Choose It When...
FRIGATE 2 Fast, efficient and performance oriented 95% low end, 95% high end, 95% speed/upwind, 90% packing/freefly You are an intermediate or experienced rider prioritizing acceleration, speed, upwind angle and consistent performance across a wide wind range
QUEST Accessible, smooth and forgiving 90% low end, 90% high end, 80% speed/upwind, 100% packing/freefly You are learning, value comfort and control, or want the easiest F-ONE parawing to stash and manage downwind
The FRIGATE 2 is the faster F-ONE option with stronger upwind performance. The QUEST gives up some speed in exchange for easier handling, greater comfort and a more beginner-friendly character.

Who Is the FRIGATE 2 Best For?

  • Intermediate and experienced parawing riders
  • Foilers who want faster and more efficient upwind runs
  • Downwind riders who pack the wing before following swell
  • Riders who need useful low-end power without sacrificing high-wind control
  • Foilers who want responsive pumping and rapid acceleration
  • Riders using smaller, faster foils or lower-volume boards
  • Anyone upgrading from the original FRIGATE for wider range and easier stashing
Choose the QUEST instead if: this is your first parawing, easy handling matters more than maximum speed, or your main priority is the simplest possible packing and freefly experience.

What’s Included

  • F-ONE FRIGATE 2 parawing
  • Size-specific vertical carbon control bar
  • Wing bag
  • Repair kit
Safety leash not included: F-ONE states that a wrist safety leash is not included but is highly recommended. A leash helps prevent the parawing from being lost during a fall and keeps it from becoming a hazard to other water users.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the FRIGATE 2 a wing or a parawing?

It is a parawing, also called a pocket wing. Unlike a conventional inflatable handheld wing, it uses bridles and a compact control bar. It can be gathered and stored during a downwind run.

Is the F-ONE FRIGATE 2 suitable for beginners?

F-ONE positions the FRIGATE 2 for intermediate to experienced riders. Beginners and first-time parawing users will generally find the F-ONE QUEST more accessible, forgiving and easier to pack.

How is the FRIGATE 2 different from the original FRIGATE?

Version 2 introduces a higher-aspect profile, more ribs, improved low-end pumping, greater high-end stability and depower, shorter bridles, fewer bridle connection points, Pack Assist, a vertical carbon bar and a softer, more compact-packing fabric.

What does Pack Assist do?

Pack Assist uses dedicated front bridles to remove the wing’s power. Sliding your hand a short distance along the white spliced bridles makes the FRIGATE 2 neutral so it can be gathered and stored more easily.

Why does the FRIGATE 2 have a vertical bar?

The vertical carbon bar improves grip and comfort, particularly near the front bridles. Its shape also creates a supportive control point and increases the available depower range when the wind becomes stronger.

What is special about the 5.5 and 6.5m² sizes?

These two larger sizes use a hybrid fabric construction in the trailing section that is 20% lighter. F-ONE designed this change to help the larger parawings remain airborne, respond more quickly and produce better low-end performance.

Does the FRIGATE 2 include a wrist leash?

No. F-ONE states that the safety leash is not included, but strongly recommends using a suitable wrist leash.

Can one FRIGATE 2 size cover every rider and condition?

No. The wide wind range reduces quiver overlap, but the correct size still depends on rider weight, experience, foil and board size, wind quality and local conditions. Use F-ONE’s chart as guidance rather than an absolute limit.

Should I take a lesson before using a parawing?

Yes. F-ONE strongly recommends instruction from a specialized school before using a pocket wing for the first time. Practice handling on land, choose an obstacle-free location and never ride alone or in unsafe offshore wind.
