2026 North Rover + F-One Rocket Free Surf Carbon + Sonar HA Premium Carbon Complete Parawing Package

A lightweight, fast and carving-focused carbon setup for skilled parawing and free-surf riders.

This premium complete parawing package combines the smooth power and upwind ability of the 2026 North Rover with a fixed 6'5 / 79L F-One ROCKET FREE SURF CARBON board and an efficient North Sonar High Aspect carbon foil. The narrow Carbon board accelerates smoothly, pumps responsively and stays clear through committed turns. Choose the HA1050 for more speed and response or the HA1150 for additional lift and connection through softer swell; both are paired with the correct fixed S208 Speed V2 stabilizer. A Blue Planet retractable waist leash completes this focused surf, carving and performance-freeride system.

  • Rover: 3.5 / 4.2 / 5.0m
  • FREE SURF Carbon: fixed 79L
  • CF85 carbon mast
  • HA1050 / HA1150 front wing
  • Fixed Black S208 Speed V2
  • Blue Planet reel leash system

Best for: intermediate and advanced foilers who want Rover freeride range, strong upwind access and a lively premium setup for carving swell. Choose a FREE DW + Sonar DW package when easier starts, more standing stability and stronger low-speed downwind support matter more than this package’s surf response and speed.

Why Choose This Premium Carbon Parawing Package?

Freeride range with pack-away freedom

The Rover’s smooth traction, useful upwind drive and adjustable power support exploration and repeated runs before the canopy is stored for hands-free riding.

Light and direct Carbon board

The 79L HD Foam Carbon Composite board weighs approximately 5.4kg and delivers a stiff foil connection, responsive pumping and precise control through turns.

HA glide with the correct tail

The HA1050 and HA1150 carry speed efficiently, while the fixed S208 supplies their recommended balance of pitch support, low drag and powered control.

Cleaner leash management

The Blue Planet reel keeps excess leash line retracted and off the water, while the padded belt and long shock cord provide up to 14ft of extension during a fall.

Why These Components Work Together

The Rover gives a surf-oriented foil setup practical range. Its smooth pull helps the narrow board build takeoff speed, while its upwind drive lets the rider explore, reposition and repeat a run instead of being limited to one-way downwind use. Once the swell is reached, the Rover can be packed into its on-water backpack so the board and foil can be ridden hands-free.

The fixed 79L FREE SURF CARBON is the bridge between takeoff support and surf response. Its 6'5 length and straight rocker create useful glide and acceleration, while the narrow 19-inch width, tapered ends, reduced thickness and beveled rails keep the board precise once airborne. The stiff Carbon construction sharpens pumping response and makes foil input feel more immediate.

Under the board, the HA1050 or HA1150 retains speed between turns and through soft sections. The fixed S208 stabilizer is the recommended match for both sizes, adding the pitch stability needed for powered riding without sacrificing their efficient mid-to-high-speed feel. The retractable reel leash keeps excess line managed during normal riding while the long shock cord supplies additional separation during a fall.

This package is intentionally performance-oriented. The narrow 79L board and high-aspect foil require established balance, takeoff speed and foil-height control. It is not designed as a first-time wing-foil or parawing setup.

Why This Package Uses the Fixed 6'5 / 79L Board

The 79L is the middle performance choice in the useful parawing range. It adds more waterline, flotation and takeoff support than the smaller FREE SURF Carbon sizes without moving to the additional length and swing weight of the 85L or 91L boards. At only 19 inches wide, it remains a technical surf-oriented platform rather than a conventional wide wing board.

Board Dimensions and Weight Performance Role
6'5 / 79L 6'5 × 19 × 5.2in
195.6 × 48.3 × 13.2cm
Approx. 5.4kg / 11.9lb
A balanced premium size with useful acceleration and flotation before takeoff, plus low swing weight, direct pumping response and clear rail clearance once flying.

The board size is fixed: this package includes only the 6'5 / 79L ROCKET FREE SURF CARBON. Choose another complete package if your weight, balance or local conditions require substantially more volume or standing stability.

What Makes This the Premium Package?

The Carbon and standard Bamboo versions of the ROCKET FREE SURF share the same 6'5 / 79L shape and carving-focused program. The premium difference is construction. HD Foam Carbon Composite and Carbon Twin-Tracks reduce listed weight, increase stiffness through the mast connection and make the board more reactive when pumping and changing direction.

Feature FREE SURF Carbon in This Package Standard FREE SURF
Shape and program 6'5 / 79L surf and carving outline Same 6'5 / 79L shape and intended use
Construction HD Foam Carbon Composite Bamboo Deck Construction
Listed weight Approx. 5.4kg / 11.9lb Approx. 5.7kg / 12.6lb
Foil connection Extended Carbon Twin-Tracks for increased stiffness and tuning range Standard 90mm Twin-Tracks
Ride emphasis Lower swing weight, quicker pumping response and more direct carving feedback Same proven shape with a lower package price

Listed board weights are manufacturer specifications and individual production boards may vary slightly. The Carbon upgrade improves response; it does not make the narrow 79L shape easier than a wider progression board.

Why Does This Package Include Two Stabilizers?

The Sonar Carbon Foil Edition is supplied with an S270 stabilizer as part of its standard lower assembly. That stabilizer cannot be removed from the Carbon Foil Edition product, so it remains inside the package.

The additional fixed Black S208 Speed V2 is included because it is the correct performance match for both the HA1050 and HA1150. Its thinner profile reduces drag, while its High Modulus Carbon construction and tuned shape provide the pitch stability needed for powered riding and fast carving. The S270 can be kept as an alternate tail or spare for another Sonar configuration.

You will receive both stabilizers intentionally: the S270 packed with the Carbon Foil Edition and the fixed Black S208 for the HA front wing.

Choose Your Sonar HA V2 Front Wing

Both front-wing options are carbon pre-preg and use the fixed S208 Speed V2 stabilizer. Choose the HA1050 for more speed and response or the HA1150 for additional lift, pumping support and glide through smaller or softer swell.

Front Wing Span / Aspect Ratio How It Rides with S208
HA1050 1050cm²
1050mm span
10.5 AR
The faster and more responsive choice, with strong glide and useful low-end lift for performance freeride, carving and riders who maintain speed confidently.
HA1150 1150cm²
1100mm span
10.5 AR
Adds lift, pumping range and easier connection through smaller or softer swell while retaining efficient high-aspect speed and glide.

Neither HA option is beginner-oriented. The HA1150 is the more supportive choice; the HA1050 rewards riders who can reliably maintain speed through turns and transitions.

Choose Your North Rover Size

The 3.5m keeps the setup compact for stronger wind, the 4.2m is the central all-around choice, and the 5.0m adds low-end pull when takeoff speed is harder to build. Use these ranges as practical starting points:

Rover Size Wind Range Riding Emphasis
3.5m 16–26 knots Stronger wind, efficient takeoffs and less canopy to manage when packed away.
4.2m 14–22 knots The central all-around choice, balancing useful starting power with manageable size.
5.0m 10–15 knots Additional low-end pull for lighter wind, more rider weight or a setup that needs help accelerating.

Wind ranges are starting points, not guarantees. Rider weight, the fixed 79L board, selected foil, technique, current and swell can all change the correct Rover size.

Practical Setup Starting Points

Priority Board and Foil Direction Rover Direction
Maximum speed and response Fixed 79L FREE SURF Carbon + HA1050 + fixed S208 Choose 3.5, 4.2 or 5.0m for the actual wind—not for the foil size.
Balanced premium surf setup Fixed 79L FREE SURF Carbon + HA1050 or HA1150 by rider weight and swell The 4.2m covers the central wind range, but conditions still determine canopy size.
More lift and connection Fixed 79L FREE SURF Carbon + HA1150 + fixed S208 The 5.0m adds low-end pull only within its intended 10–15-knot range.

Select the Rover for wind strength, then choose HA1050 or HA1150 for rider weight, ability and swell energy. Because the board is fixed at 79L, confirm that its flotation and narrow 19-inch width are appropriate for your starting technique and local conditions.

Why This Package Uses a Retractable Reel Leash

Parawing setups place a board, foil and multiple lines around the rider. The Blue Planet system keeps excess board-leash line retracted instead of dragging behind the board, helping reduce water drag and the opportunity for loose line to interfere with the foil or parawing leash during normal riding.

During a fall, the long shock cord allows the system to extend to a total of approximately 14ft. The padded waist belt keeps the connection away from the rider’s ankles and leaves the legs free for starts, pumping, carving and recovery.

Leash care matters: flush the reel through its wash hole after saltwater use, follow the product’s lubrication guidance, and inspect the belt, cord, connectors and spring action before every session. No leash eliminates entanglement or impact risk; use proper fall technique and choose equipment appropriate for the location and conditions.

Which Complete Parawing Package Is Right for You?

Package Primary Focus Choose It When
Rover + FREE SURF Carbon + Sonar HA Premium surf, carving, speed and performance freeride You want Rover versatility with lower board weight, direct Carbon response and fast high-aspect glide.
Rover + standard FREE SURF + Sonar HA Surf, carving and performance freeride at a lower package price You want the same general shape and riding program without paying for the Carbon board upgrade and reel leash.
Ranger + FREE DW Carbon + Sonar DW Premium dedicated downwind, stable acceleration and supportive low-speed glide You prioritize compact Ranger pack-away and easier downwind starts over Rover range and maximum carving response.

Board and Foil Compatibility

The F-One FREE SURF Carbon uses industry-standard 90mm Carbon Twin-Tracks, and the Sonar CF85 mast plate uses a compatible 165 × 90mm four-bolt pattern. The extended tracks provide additional room to fine-tune mast position and front-foot pressure for the selected HA front wing.

Mounting hardware is not included: obtain the correct foil-to-board screws and track nuts before assembly. Use hardware compatible with the North mast plate, F-One tracks and required thread engagement, and follow the manufacturers’ assembly and torque instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a complete parawing setup?

The package includes a Rover parawing, fixed 79L FREE SURF Carbon board, complete Sonar carbon foil with your selected HA front wing, fixed S208 stabilizer and Blue Planet reel leash system. Foil-to-board screws and track nuts, personal safety equipment, footstraps and a boardbag are not included.

Is this package suitable for beginners?

No. It is intended for intermediate and advanced foilers. The narrow 79L board requires developed balance and takeoff technique, while the HA front wings have higher stall speeds and require more active speed management than progression-oriented foil shapes.

Can I choose a different board size?

No. This package is built around the fixed 6'5 / 79L ROCKET FREE SURF CARBON. Its middle size balances useful acceleration and flotation with the low swing weight and narrow outline wanted for carving.

Why choose the Carbon board instead of the standard FREE SURF?

Both versions share the same 79L shape. Choose Carbon for lower listed weight, increased stiffness, a more direct foil connection and quicker pumping response. Choose the standard Bamboo version when you want the same shape and carving program at a lower package price.

Why are two stabilizers included?

The Carbon Foil Edition comes with an S270 as standard. This package adds the fixed Black S208 because it is the correct performance match for both the HA1050 and HA1150. You receive both stabilizers intentionally.

Do I need to choose a stabilizer?

No. The Black S208 is fixed in this package and is matched to both available HA front wings. The only foil choice required is HA1050 or HA1150.

Should I choose HA1050 or HA1150?

Choose HA1050 for more speed, response and a more compact feel. Choose HA1150 for additional lift, pumping support, softer swell or more rider weight.

Why choose FREE SURF instead of FREE DW?

Choose FREE SURF for reduced thickness, balanced foot pressure, lower swing weight and more freedom through committed turns. Choose FREE DW when standing stability, easier acceleration and downwind glide are the higher priorities.

Why choose Rover instead of Ranger?

The Rover emphasizes smoother power delivery, stronger upwind drive and broader freeride use. The Ranger is the more specialized choice for dedicated downwind and compact pack-away performance.

Does the Rover require a pump?

No. The Rover is a non-inflatable parawing controlled through short bridles and the included carbon four-line bar. It does not use an inflatable leading edge or center strut.

What maintenance does the reel leash need?

Flush the reel through its wash hole after saltwater sessions, use the oiling port as directed, and regularly inspect the belt, long shock cord, connectors and replaceable stainless steel spring. Do not use the leash if any component is damaged or the reel does not operate correctly.

What safety equipment do I need?

Requirements depend on location, but open-water sessions call for appropriate training, flotation, visibility and communication equipment, route and weather planning, and reliable assistance. Check wind, swell, current and exit options, and do not attempt unfamiliar downwind routes alone.
