The Rover gives the FREE SURF more range than a dedicated one-way downwind canopy. Its smooth pull helps the narrow board build takeoff speed, while its upwind drive lets the rider reposition, explore and repeat a run. Once the swell is reached, the Rover can be stored in its on-water backpack so the board and foil can be ridden hands-free.
The FREE SURF and Sonar HA then take over. The board’s tapered outline and balanced foot pressure support carving, while the low-drag HA front wing retains speed between turns and across soft sections. The fixed S208 adds the pitch support required by both available HA sizes without dulling their efficient performance character.
This is a performance-oriented package. It offers broader freeride use than a Ranger setup, but the narrow FREE SURF and higher stall speed of the HA foil demand more precise balance and speed management than the FREE DW + Sonar DW combination.
The Sonar Carbon Foil Edition is supplied with an S270 stabilizer as part of its standard lower assembly. That stabilizer cannot be removed from the Carbon Foil Edition product, so it remains inside the package.
The additional fixed S208 Speed V2 stabilizer is included because it is the correct performance match for both the HA1050 and HA1150. Its thinner, lower-drag design supplies the required pitch support while preserving the speed and efficiency expected from the HA foil. The S270 can be kept as an alternate tail or spare for another Sonar configuration.
You will receive both stabilizers intentionally: the S270 packed with the Carbon Foil Edition and the fixed S208 for the HA front wing.
All three package sizes use F-One’s Bamboo Deck Construction and include an installed traction pad, integrated carry handle and adjustable 90mm Twin-Tracks foil mount. Select enough volume for your weight, balance and starting conditions without giving up the responsive character you want after takeoff.

Even the 85L remains a narrow performance board rather than a wide first-time beginner platform. Choose by rider weight, balance, foil level, water state and front-wing size—not volume alone.
Both front-wing options use the fixed S208 Speed V2 stabilizer. Choose the HA1050 for a faster, more responsive setup or the HA1150 for additional lift, pumping support and glide through softer swell.

The F-One FREE SURF uses industry-standard 90mm Twin-Tracks, and the Sonar CF85 mast plate uses a compatible 165 × 90mm four-bolt pattern. Track adjustment lets the rider tune mast position and front-foot pressure for the selected board and foil combination.
Mounting hardware is not included: obtain the correct foil-to-board screws and track nuts before assembly. Use hardware compatible with the North mast plate, F-One tracks and required thread engagement, and follow the manufacturers’ assembly and torque instructions.
