2026 North Rover + F-One Rocket Free Surf + Sonar HA Complete Parawing Package
Versatile parawing power paired with a fast, carving-focused board and carbon foil.
This complete performance parawing package combines the smooth traction and upwind ability of the 2026 North Rover with the responsive F-One ROCKET FREE SURF and an efficient North Sonar High Aspect carbon foil. Use the Rover to explore, reposition and accelerate onto foil, then pack it away for hands-free swell riding. The FREE SURF, HA1050 or HA1150 front wing and fixed S208 Speed V2 stabilizer deliver the speed, glide and turning response needed for carving and performance freeride sessions.
- Rover: 3.5 / 4.2 / 5.0m
- FREE SURF: 71 / 79 / 85L
- CF85 carbon mast
- HA1050 / HA1150 front wing
- Fixed S208 Speed V2 tail
- Waist board leash included
Best for: intermediate and advanced foilers who want freeride range and upwind access without giving up surf response, speed or efficient glide. Choose the Rover + FREE DW + Sonar DW complete package when easier starts, more board stability and a more supportive downwind foil are higher priorities.
Why Choose This Complete Parawing Package?
Freeride range with pack-away freedom
The Rover’s smooth traction, useful upwind drive and adjustable power support exploration and repeated runs before the canopy is stored for hands-free riding.
Surf-focused board response
The FREE SURF’s tapered outline, reduced thickness and balanced foot pressure keep swing weight low and help the board stay clear through committed foil turns.
Efficient high-aspect glide
The HA V2’s wide span, short chord and thin carbon profile reduce drag, retain speed and help connect bumps with less pumping input once moving.
Correct S208 tail included
The fixed S208 Speed V2 stabilizer gives both HA choices the intended balance of low drag, pitch support and confident mid-to-high-speed control.

Why These Components Work Together
The Rover gives the FREE SURF more range than a dedicated one-way downwind canopy. Its smooth pull helps the narrow board build takeoff speed, while its upwind drive lets the rider reposition, explore and repeat a run. Once the swell is reached, the Rover can be stored in its on-water backpack so the board and foil can be ridden hands-free.
The FREE SURF and Sonar HA then take over. The board’s tapered outline and balanced foot pressure support carving, while the low-drag HA front wing retains speed between turns and across soft sections. The fixed S208 adds the pitch support required by both available HA sizes without dulling their efficient performance character.
This is a performance-oriented package. It offers broader freeride use than a Ranger setup, but the narrow FREE SURF and higher stall speed of the HA foil demand more precise balance and speed management than the FREE DW + Sonar DW combination.
Why Does This Package Include Two Stabilizers?
The Sonar Carbon Foil Edition is supplied with an S270 stabilizer as part of its standard lower assembly. That stabilizer cannot be removed from the Carbon Foil Edition product, so it remains inside the package.
The additional fixed S208 Speed V2 stabilizer is included because it is the correct performance match for both the HA1050 and HA1150. Its thinner, lower-drag design supplies the required pitch support while preserving the speed and efficiency expected from the HA foil. The S270 can be kept as an alternate tail or spare for another Sonar configuration.
You will receive both stabilizers intentionally: the S270 packed with the Carbon Foil Edition and the fixed S208 for the HA front wing.
Choose Your Rocket Free Surf Board
All three package sizes use F-One’s Bamboo Deck Construction and include an installed traction pad, integrated carry handle and adjustable 90mm Twin-Tracks foil mount. Select enough volume for your weight, balance and starting conditions without giving up the responsive character you want after takeoff.
| Board | Dimensions | How to Choose |
|---|---|---|
| 6'2 / 71L | 6'2 × 18.75 × 5.0in 188 × 47.6 × 12.7cm Approx. 5.3kg / 11.7lb |
The smallest and quickest option for a lighter or highly confident rider comfortable with low-volume starts. |
| 6'5 / 79L | 6'5 × 19 × 5.2in 195.6 × 48.3 × 13.2cm Approx. 5.7kg / 12.6lb |
The middle choice, adding useful support while preserving a fast, direct and surf-oriented feel. |
| 6'8 / 85L | 6'8 × 19.25 × 5.3in 203.2 × 48.9 × 13.5cm Approx. 5.9kg / 13.0lb |
The most supportive option here, with added flotation and glide while retaining the FREE SURF’s carving character. |
Even the 85L remains a narrow performance board rather than a wide first-time beginner platform. Choose by rider weight, balance, foil level, water state and front-wing size—not volume alone.
Choose Your Sonar HA V2 Front Wing
Both front-wing options use the fixed S208 Speed V2 stabilizer. Choose the HA1050 for a faster, more responsive setup or the HA1150 for additional lift, pumping support and glide through softer swell.
| Front Wing | Span / Aspect Ratio | How It Rides with S208 |
|---|---|---|
| HA1050 | 1050cm² 1050mm span 10.5 AR |
The faster and more responsive choice, with strong glide and useful low-end lift for performance freeride and carving. |
| HA1150 | 1150cm² 1100mm span 10.5 AR |
Adds lift, pumping range and easier connection through smaller or softer swell while retaining efficient HA performance. |
Neither HA option is beginner-oriented. The HA1150 offers more support, while the HA1050 rewards riders who can reliably maintain speed through turns and transitions.
Choose Your North Rover Size
The 3.5m keeps the setup compact for stronger wind, the 4.2m is the central all-around choice, and the 5.0m adds low-end pull when takeoff speed is harder to build. Use these ranges as practical starting points:
| Rover Size | Wind Range | Riding Emphasis |
|---|---|---|
| 3.5m | 16–26 knots | Stronger wind, efficient takeoffs and less canopy to manage when packed away. |
| 4.2m | 14–22 knots | The central all-around choice, balancing useful starting power with manageable size. |
| 5.0m | 10–15 knots | Additional low-end pull for lighter wind, more rider weight or setups that need help accelerating. |
Wind ranges are starting points, not guarantees. Rider weight, board volume, foil choice, technique, current and swell can all change the correct Rover size.
Practical Setup Starting Points
| Priority | Board and Foil Direction | Rover Direction |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum response | 71L or 79L FREE SURF + HA1050 + fixed S208 | Choose 3.5, 4.2 or 5.0m from the actual wind—not from the foil size. |
| Balanced performance freeride | 79L or 85L FREE SURF + HA1050 or HA1150 by rider weight and swell | The 4.2m covers the central wind range, but conditions still determine canopy size. |
| More lift and support | 85L FREE SURF + HA1150 + fixed S208 | The 5.0m adds low-end pull only in its intended 10–15-knot range. |
These are starting points rather than mandatory combinations. Select the parawing for wind strength, then choose board volume and foil area for rider weight, ability and water conditions.
Which Complete Parawing Package Is Right for You?
| Package | Primary Focus | Choose It When |
|---|---|---|
| Rover + FREE SURF + Sonar HA | Performance freeride, carving, speed and efficient swell connection | You want Rover versatility with a more responsive board and faster high-aspect foil. |
| Rover + FREE DW + Sonar DW | More stable starts, accessible downwind progression and long low-speed glide | You prioritize support and easier acceleration over maximum surf response. |
| Ranger + FREE SURF + Sonar HA | Dedicated pack-away downwind riding with surf and performance emphasis | You prefer the Ranger’s specialized downwind focus over the Rover’s broader freeride range. |
Board and Foil Compatibility
The F-One FREE SURF uses industry-standard 90mm Twin-Tracks, and the Sonar CF85 mast plate uses a compatible 165 × 90mm four-bolt pattern. Track adjustment lets the rider tune mast position and front-foot pressure for the selected board and foil combination.
Mounting hardware is not included: obtain the correct foil-to-board screws and track nuts before assembly. Use hardware compatible with the North mast plate, F-One tracks and required thread engagement, and follow the manufacturers’ assembly and torque instructions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a complete parawing setup?
The package includes a Rover parawing, FREE SURF board, complete Sonar carbon foil and waist board leash. Foil-to-board screws and track nuts, personal safety equipment and a boardbag are not included.
Is this package suitable for beginners?
No. It is intended for intermediate and advanced foilers. The narrow FREE SURF requires balance during starts, while the HA front wings have higher stall speeds and require more active speed management than progression-oriented foil shapes.
Why are two stabilizers included?
The Carbon Foil Edition comes with an S270 as standard. This package adds the fixed S208 because it is the correct performance match for both the HA1050 and HA1150. You receive both stabilizers.
Do I need to choose a stabilizer?
No. The Black S208 is fixed in this package and is matched to both available HA front wings. The only foil choice required is HA1050 or HA1150.
Should I choose HA1050 or HA1150?
Choose HA1050 for more speed, response and a more compact feel. Choose HA1150 for additional lift, pumping support, softer swell or more rider weight.
Why choose FREE SURF instead of FREE DW?
Choose FREE SURF for lower swing weight, balanced foot pressure and more freedom through tighter turns. Choose FREE DW when stable starts, maximum acceleration and downwind glide are the higher priorities.
Why choose Rover instead of Ranger?
The Rover emphasizes smoother power delivery, stronger upwind drive and broader freeride use. The Ranger is the more specialized choice for dedicated downwind and compact pack-away performance.
Does the Rover require a pump?
No. The Rover is a non-inflatable parawing controlled through short bridles and the included carbon four-line bar. It does not use an inflatable leading edge or center strut.
