The 2025 CORE XLITE 2 is a lightweight, one-strut inflatable kite designed primarily for kite foiling. Its ExoTex Light Dacron airframe, CoreTex 2 triple-ripstop canopy and light-wind profile help it remain stable in marginal wind, drift when riding toward the kite and deliver smooth power without pulling the foil out of control.
CORE combines the versatile power of the Nexus with drift inspired by its Section wave kite. The result is a foil-specific model that CORE states is approximately 30% lighter than the already lightweight Nexus while retaining more canopy support and easier relaunch than a completely strutless kite.

Why Choose This Kite?
Choose the XLITE 2 if kite foiling is your main discipline and you want a kite that stays in the air through light or inconsistent wind, turns tightly through transitions and drifts without requiring constant bar input. Its smooth power delivery helps reduce unwanted acceleration and over-foiling.
Compared with the three-strut Nexus 4, the XLITE 2 is substantially lighter and more foil focused but offers less structure for powered jumping and twin-tip riding. Compared with the Section 5, it has better low-wind efficiency and lower weight, while the Section provides more support for aggressive wave riding. Compared with the ALUULA Air Pro, the XLITE is built for foil control rather than light-wind Big Air.
One-Strut and Premium Construction Explained
The XLITE 2 uses CORE’s lightweight ExoTex Dacron construction. It is not an ALUULA or Pro kite. Weight savings come from the one-strut platform, ExoTex Light airframe material, lightweight canopy and shortened bridle.

Why One Strut?
One center strut limits canopy flutter and supports water relaunch while remaining much lighter than a conventional three- or five-strut kite.

CORE does not offer an XLITE 2 Pro or ALUULA version. The XLITE 2 is already a specialized lightweight foil platform.
CORE Air Pro
The 15m and 17m Air Pro use a premium ALUULA three-strut airframe for light-wind freeride, freestyle and Big Air—not minimum-weight foil performance.
ExoTex Light is a high-performance Dacron, not an exotic composite. CORE states that its reinforcing pattern reduces material mass by approximately 10% while maintaining high rigidity and strength.

Light-Wind Stability
Low airframe weight helps the kite remain airborne in marginal and inconsistent wind. The single strut controls excessive canopy flutter better than a strutless platform.
Smooth Foil Power
Power builds progressively rather than arriving as a sudden surge. This makes water starts, acceleration and transitions easier to manage without overpowering the foil.
Fast, Tight Turning
The slightly higher-aspect Future-C shape and broad tips provide precise, compact turns for downloops, air jibes and foot changes.
Excellent Drift
The light frame and rearward maximum camber help the kite follow the rider through downwind angles, swell and carving transitions without dropping from the sky.

All-Round Mode
The factory setup balances depower, useful low-end power and predictable handling. This is the recommended starting point for most foil riders.
Wave Mode
Produces faster turns and more depower so the kite can be redirected without pulling the rider off the foil or surfboard.
Freestyle Mode
Increases the turning radius and provides additional drive and lift for foil-style tricks, transitions and foot changes.
Tunable Feedback
Changing the CIT connection influences power and steering response. Make one adjustment at a time and test it in controlled conditions.
Turning, Bar Pressure, Depower, Relaunch and Drift
- Turning speed: Fast and tight, with enough power through downloops to support smooth foil transitions.
- Bar pressure: Light and precise, with clear kite-position feedback from the ultrashort bridle.
- Power delivery: Soft, smooth and progressive to reduce sudden foil acceleration.
- Depower: Effective in All-Round mode and increased further in Wave mode for downwind carving and swell riding.
- Relaunch: Excellent for a lightweight foil kite. The one-strut structure, broad tips and anti-snag bridle support conventional and reverse relaunch.
- Drift: Exceptional, particularly in light wind and when riding toward the kite.
- Boosting: Capable of smaller foil jumps and transition airs, but not designed for powered twin-tip Big Air.

Who Is It Best For?
- Beginner progression: Not the best first general-purpose kite, but an excellent progression option for new foil riders who already have basic kite control. Reverse relaunch is especially helpful.
- Freeride: Comfortable for light-wind cruising and directional-board riding, but less supported than a three-strut kite when heavily powered.
- Big Air: Not recommended as a dedicated Big Air kite. Choose the XR, Nexus, Pace or Air Pro instead.
- Freestyle: Well suited to foil freestyle, air jibes and transitions. It is not designed primarily for powered unhooked twin-tip freestyle.
- Wave riding: Excellent drift and depower make it effective for foil surfing and smaller waves. Choose the Section 5 for aggressive powered surfboard riding.
- Kite foiling: Its primary discipline, with low weight, smooth power, fast turns, strong drift and easy relaunch.
- Racing: Efficient enough for fast recreational foiling but not a dedicated closed-cell Formula Kite racing design.

Sensor Bar and Line Setup
The XLITE 2 is compatible with CORE Sensor 2, Sensor 3 and Sensor 4 control-system families, including their S and Pro versions.
- Current setup: The Sensor 4 or Sensor 4 Pro provides CORE’s latest adjustment and safety features.
- Foil-specific setup: CORE originally recommended the narrow Sensor 3 Pro Foil bar with 22m low-drag Tectanium lines.

XLITE 2 FAQ
Is the XLITE 2 only for advanced kite foilers?
No. Experienced foilers will appreciate its low weight and precise handling, while newer foil riders benefit from its smooth power and reverse-relaunch capability. Riders should already have basic kite control before learning to foil.
Is the XLITE 2 made from ALUULA?
No. It uses an ExoTex Light Dacron leading edge and center strut with a CoreTex 2 triple-ripstop canopy. There is no XLITE 2 Pro or ALUULA version.
