The CORE XR7 is a high-performance freeride and Big Air kite designed for riders who want powerful lift, exceptionally long hangtime and dependable control across a broad wind range. Its five-strut Delta Bow platform combines strong low-end pull with substantial depower, allowing the XR7 to cruise comfortably, drive upwind and remain composed when the wind increases.
Compared with the previous XR6, the XR7 introduced a lighter CoreTex 2 canopy, ExoTex Light struts and refined shape and bridle tuning. These changes made the seventh-generation XR faster turning, more playful and easier to redirect while preserving the stable, predictable power delivery for which the XR series is known.

ExoTex Light struts and the updated canopy reduce weight compared with the XR6, allowing the XR7 to turn faster and feel more playful. It remains a powerful five-strut kite, so its turns emphasize control and consistent pull rather than the extremely tight pivot of a lightweight wave kite.
Bar Pressure and Feedback
The Short Bridle System creates a direct connection that helps riders track the kite’s position. CIT settings and rear-line attachment points allow the steering load and responsiveness to be adjusted instead of locking the rider into a single bar-pressure setting.
Power and Depower
The Delta Bow outline generates substantial power when sheeted in and extensive depower when the bar is pushed away. Intelligent Arc changes the projected area as bar position changes, helping the XR7 produce lift on demand while remaining controllable in its high end.
Boost and Hangtime

The lighter XR7 construction improves drift and makes mixed freeride or directional-board sessions possible. However, riders who prioritize down-the-line drift, tight pivoting turns and wave-specific depower should choose a lighter three-strut kite such as the CORE Nexus instead.
XR7 Construction and Technology
ExoTex Ultra Rigid Dacron
The standard XR7 uses CORE’s ExoTex Ultra Rigid Dacron in the leading edge. Its low-stretch structure helps the kite maintain a stable airframe and transfer steering input accurately under load.
ExoTex Light Struts
Lighter ExoTex struts reduce overall weight while maintaining the support required by a high-powered five-strut kite. The lighter struts contribute to the XR7’s faster turning, improved relaunch and more playful handling.
CoreTex 2 Triple Ripstop
CoreTex 2 introduced a revised triple-ripstop canopy with increased tear resistance, improved UV protection and a coating designed to enhance profile stability and longevity.
Delta Bow Shape
The shape combines a concave bow-style trailing edge with swept-back delta wingtips. This produces early planing power, efficient upwind drive, extensive depower and easy water relaunch.
Intelligent Arc
Intelligent Arc changes the kite’s projected area with bar input. Sheeting in opens the wingspan for greater lift, while sheeting out reduces projected area for additional depower and high-wind control.
Speed Valve and Pump System
Speed Valve 2 accepts a standard 20mm bayonet-style pump hose, while the Speed Pump System distributes air between the leading edge and all five struts for faster inflation.

What is the difference between the XR7 and XR7 LW?
Standard XR7 sizes use an ExoTex Ultra Rigid Dacron leading edge. The 15m and 17m XR7 LW use a lighter ExoTex Light leading edge, light struts and ultra-light wingtips to improve flight in marginal wind.
Which control bars work with the XR7?
The XR7 was originally designed around CORE Sensor bar systems, including the Sensor 3 generation. CORE’s current compatibility information also lists the XR7 as compatible with Sensor 4 and Sensor 4S systems.
Is the control bar included?
No. The XR7 is sold as a kite-only product unless the specific product option clearly states otherwise. The pump and control bar are sold separately.
