Choose Your Mast Construction
Aluminum: Predictable and Affordable
The One-Lock Aluminum Mast uses anodized 6061-grade aluminum to provide dependable stiffness, smooth control and outstanding value. Its consistent 118mm chord creates predictable feedback for learning and everyday freeride sessions.
- Best entry point into the One-Lock system
- Ideal for learning and general freeride
- Five lengths for shallow water through open water
- Practical choice for a second or travel mast
Carbon: Performance and Versatility
The standard Carbon Mast combines mid- and high-modulus carbon in a hollow monobloc construction. It increases stiffness and response over aluminum while retaining a smooth, accessible feel across a broad speed range.
- Best upgrade from aluminum
- More direct response through turns
- Efficient glide and reduced vibration
- Strong balance of performance and price
HM Carbon: Maximum Stiffness
The HM Carbon Mast prioritizes rigidity in longitudinal bending and torsion. It delivers immediate feedback, precise control and increased confidence when riding quickly, driving hard turns or using higher-aspect front wings.
- Best for advanced and performance-driven riders
- Maximum stiffness and direct feedback
- Designed for speed and powered control
- Ideal with high-aspect One-Lock wings
Pro HM 102: Elite Kitefoil Performance
The 102cm Pro HM Carbon Mast is a specialized high-speed mast for advanced kite foilers. Its refined low-drag profile, reduced average chord and solid-core reinforcement maximize rigidity, yaw response and control at speed.
- Designed for elite kite foiling
- Maximum ride height and leverage
- Reduced chord for responsive yaw control
- Specialized—not the general all-around choice
Construction Comparison
| Construction | Available Lengths | Profile | Ride Character | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aluminum | 52, 62, 72, 82 and 92cm | Consistent 118mm chord | Smooth, predictable and confidence-building |
Best Value Beginners, freeride and shallow-water options |
| Carbon | 72, 82 and 92cm | Tapered chord and collar | Responsive, efficient and smooth across a broad speed range |
Best All-Around Upgrade Progressing and advanced riders |
| HM Carbon | 72, 82 and 92cm | Low-drag tapered profile | Maximum stiffness with immediate, precise feedback |
Maximum Precision Powered riding and higher-aspect wings |
| Pro HM Carbon | 102cm | Reduced-chord high-speed profile | Extremely stiff, fast and yaw-responsive |
Kitefoil Specialist Elite and race-oriented kite foiling |
Our recommendation: Aluminum provides the best value for learning and recreational use. Standard carbon is the best performance upgrade for most riders. Choose HM carbon when maximum stiffness and precise response matter more than price.

| 92cm / 36.2" | 2.15 lb / 0.98kg | 4.52 lb / 2.05kg | 4.52 lb / 2.05kg | More clearance in waves and chop, deep banking and powered riding |
| 102cm / 40.2" | — | — | 4.89 lb / 2.22kg | Advanced, high-speed and race-oriented kite foiling |
Carbon is not automatically the lightest option in this mast family. Its principal advantages are greater stiffness, a more efficient tapered profile and more direct foil feedback. Choose construction based on ride performance—not weight alone.
Which Mast Length Should You Choose?
52cm: Extremely Shallow
Select the 52cm aluminum mast for extremely shallow locations, wake foiling and first-flight practice. It minimizes leverage during falls but provides limited clearance for chop and banking.
62cm: Beginner and Wake
The 62cm aluminum mast adds useful ride height while retaining manageable control. It is a practical beginner, wake and shallow-water option.
72cm: Surf and Crossover
Choose 72cm for prone, surf, wake, kite or shallower-water wing foiling. It provides a compact, maneuverable feel with enough height for normal carving and progression.
82cm: Best All-Around
Slingshot identifies 82cm as the happy middle ground. It is the best choice for most wing foilers, balancing useful clearance, manageable leverage and all-around versatility.
92cm: Waves and Powered Riding
The 92cm mast provides more clearance through waves and chop and allows deeper banking before the foil approaches the surface. It is best for experienced riders in deeper water.
102cm: Pro Kitefoil
Select the 102cm Pro HM only for advanced kite foiling where top-end speed, maximum leverage and precise control are the priority. It is not the recommended everyday wing-foil length.
One-Lock Mast Technology
Internal Connection
The internal One-Lock connection keeps external seams away from the primary water flow, helping reduce vibration and maintain clean, efficient glide.
Efficient One-Lock Collar
The hydrodynamically shaped collar supports smooth water flow through the mast-to-foil junction while maintaining the durability required for repeated assembly.
RTS Board Mounting
The Rapid Track System uses specialized mounting hardware and bolt slits to make board installation fast and repeatable. Once positioned, the system can be assembled or removed without repeatedly realigning loose T-nuts.
Multi-Hole Top Plate
Multiple mounting holes and bolt slits provide convenient positioning in an industry-standard foil track while supporting the included RTS hardware.
Hand-Finished Trailing Edge
Carbon mast trailing edges are hand-finished to improve water release, minimize vibration and create smoother tracking as speed increases.
Modular One-Lock Platform
Pair the mast with compatible One-Lock front wings and stabilizers to build a foil for winging, prone, wake, pump, kite or wave riding.
Compatibility
- Designed for compatible Slingshot One-Lock front wings and stabilizers.
- Mounts to an industry-standard foil-board track using the included RTS system.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which mast is best for a beginner?
Choose an aluminum mast. The 62cm is manageable for early learning, while the 72cm or 82cm provides more room for long-term wing-foil progression.
What is the best all-around size?
The 82cm is the best all-around length for most wing foilers because it balances clearance, control and versatility across common conditions.
Why upgrade from aluminum to carbon?
Carbon provides a stiffer and more efficient tapered profile, producing faster response, more direct feedback and smoother performance as speed and rider input increase.
Why choose HM instead of standard carbon?
HM carbon is for riders who prioritize maximum stiffness. It is particularly valuable for heavier or highly powered riders, fast riding and higher-aspect front wings.
Does the mast include mounting hardware?
Yes. Each mast includes Slingshot’s RTS Complete Kit along with a protective mast cover.
Will it fit my Phantasm foil?
No. The One-Lock Mast is not directly compatible with Slingshot Phantasm or Hover Glide foil components.
