2026 North Ranger + F-One Rocket Free DW + Sonar DW Complete Parawing Package

A purpose-built package for compact pack-away riding and long downwind glide.

Built for riders focused on dedicated downwind sessions, this complete package pairs the compact single-skin 2026 North Ranger with the stable F-One ROCKET FREE DOWNWIND and an efficient North Sonar DW carbon foil. Use the Ranger to accelerate onto foil, collapse it into the included on-water backpack and ride the swell hands-free. The FREE DW, DW900 or DW1100 front wing and fixed S192 Glide stabilizer work together to support takeoff, pumping and long connections between bumps.

  • Ranger: 3.2 / 4.2m
  • FREE DW: 85 / 95L
  • CF85 carbon mast
  • DW900 / DW1100 front wing
  • Fixed S192 Glide tail
  • Waist board leash included

Best for: intermediate and experienced foilers who want a specialized downwind setup with compact on-water pack-away and supportive board-and-foil choices. Choose the Rover complete package instead when smoother general power control, stronger upwind drive and broader freeride exploration matter more than the Ranger’s dedicated downwind focus.

Why Choose This Complete Parawing Package?

Dedicated Ranger pack-away performance

The single-skin canopy, extra-short bridles and on-water backpack create a compact system designed to be collapsed and stored once you are flying.

More support during takeoff

The FREE DW’s stretched waterline, wider nose and squarer rails add glide and stability when accelerating through chop or limited wind power.

Low-speed lift with long carry

The Sonar DW front wings combine progressive lift, low drag and the forward glide needed to pump efficiently and stay connected with moving swell.

Supportive S192 tail

The fixed Glide S192 adds pitch support, holding power and a reliable pumping rhythm, making it a confidence-building match for both DW options.

Why These Components Work Together

The Ranger is designed around a simple downwind objective: use compact wind power to reach flight, then remove the canopy from your hands so the board and foil can follow the swell freely. Its responsive carbon bar and Depower Tab help manage launch and retrieval, while the extra-short bridles and single-skin construction keep the stored system compact.

The FREE DW and Sonar DW make that specialized parawing easier to use. The board supplies waterline glide and start stability, the DW front wing creates progressive low-speed lift, and the S192 provides predictable pitch support and efficient pumping. Once airborne, the CF85 carbon mast and C700 fuselage keep the foil connection direct while leaving useful clearance for chop and banked turns.

This package is specialized rather than beginner-oriented. It offers supportive board and foil choices, but riders should already have reliable foil-height, directional and starting control before learning parawing retrieval or attempting open-water downwind runs.

Why Does This Package Include Two Stabilizers?

The Sonar Carbon Foil Edition is supplied with an S270 stabilizer as part of its standard lower assembly. That stabilizer cannot be removed from the Carbon Foil Edition product, so it remains inside the package.

The additional fixed S192 is included because its high-aspect Glide profile is the better match for this dedicated DW900/DW1100 setup. It provides efficient glide, reliable pumping and the pitch support that makes the DW foil easier to manage. The S270 can be kept as a more general-purpose alternate tail or spare for another Sonar configuration.

You will receive both stabilizers intentionally: the S270 packed with the Carbon Foil Edition and the fixed S192 for the DW front wing.

Choose Your Rocket Free DW Board

Both package sizes use F-One’s Bamboo Deck Construction and include an installed traction pad, integrated carry handle and adjustable 90mm Twin-Tracks foil mount. Choose enough volume to support your weight and starting conditions while considering the board’s narrow downwind outline.

Board Dimensions How to Choose
6'4 / 85L 6'4 × 19 × 5.5in
193 × 48.3 × 14cm
Approx. 5.4kg / 11.9lb
The more compact and responsive choice for lighter or experienced riders comfortable starting on lower volume.
6'8 / 95L 6'8 × 19.5 × 5.6in
203.2 × 49.5 × 14.2cm
Approx. 5.8kg / 12.8lb
Adds flotation, waterline and stability for larger riders, choppier starts or anyone prioritizing more support before takeoff.

The 95L is the more accessible board option, but neither FREE DW size is a wide beginner platform. Rider weight, balance, foil level, water state and front-wing size should all guide the choice.

Choose Your Sonar DW Front Wing

Both front wings are paired with the fixed S192 stabilizer. Choose the DW900 for a faster, more responsive setup or the DW1100 for more low-speed lift, carrying capacity and downwind support.

Front Wing Span / Aspect Ratio How It Rides with S192
DW900 900cm²
1080mm span
13.0 AR
The faster and more maneuverable choice. The S192 adds support, stability and an easier pumping rhythm compared with a smaller performance tail.
DW1100 1100cm²
1150mm span
12.0 AR
More low-speed lift for softer swell, lighter wind, additional rider weight or a more supportive entry into downwind riding.

The DW1100 is the more accessible foil option. Choose the DW900 when you already generate takeoff speed reliably and prioritize higher speed and a more compact response.

Choose Your North Ranger Size

The 3.2m keeps the setup compact for medium-to-strong wind, while the 4.2m adds useful low-end pull for moderate conditions, larger riders and setups that need more help accelerating. Use these ranges as practical starting points:

Ranger Size Wind Range Riding Emphasis
3.2m 18–26 knots Medium-to-strong wind, compact handling and less canopy to manage during powered downwind sessions.
4.2m 14–20 knots Moderate wind with additional starting pull for larger riders or setups requiring more low-end power.

These ranges are based on an 85kg rider using a DW1100 foil and 96L board. Rider weight, board volume, foil size, technique, current and swell can all change the correct Ranger size.

Practical Setup Starting Points

Priority Board and Foil Direction Ranger Direction
More speed and response 85L FREE DW + DW900 + fixed S192 Choose 3.2 or 4.2m from the actual wind—not from the foil size.
Balanced dedicated downwind setup Choose 85L or 95L by rider weight; DW900 for speed or DW1100 for more support The 3.2m and 4.2m cover different wind ranges, so conditions determine canopy size.
Maximum package support 95L FREE DW + DW1100 + fixed S192 Use the 4.2m only when conditions fall within its intended 14–20-knot range.

These are starting points rather than mandatory combinations. Select the parawing for wind strength, then choose board volume and foil area for rider weight, ability and water conditions.

Board and Foil Compatibility

The F-One FREE DW uses industry-standard 90mm Twin-Tracks, and the Sonar CF85 mast plate uses a compatible 165 × 90mm four-bolt pattern. Track adjustment lets the rider tune mast position and front-foot pressure for the selected board and foil combination.

Mounting hardware is not included: obtain the correct foil-to-board screws and track nuts before assembly. Use hardware compatible with the North mast plate, F-One tracks and required thread engagement, and follow the manufacturers’ assembly and torque instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a complete parawing setup?

The package includes a Ranger parawing, FREE DW board, complete Sonar carbon foil and waist board leash. Foil-to-board screws and track nuts, personal safety equipment and a boardbag are not included.

Is this package suitable for beginners?

No. The supportive FREE DW, DW1100 and S192 can make starts and pitch control more manageable, but the Ranger remains a specialized parawing. Riders should already have reliable foil-height, directional and starting control before learning pack-away or open-water downwind technique.

Why are two stabilizers included?

The Carbon Foil Edition comes with an S270 as standard. This package adds the fixed S192 because its Glide profile and additional pitch support are better matched to the DW900 and DW1100. You receive both stabilizers.

Do I need to choose a stabilizer?

No. The S192 is fixed in this package and works with both available DW front wings. The only foil choice required is DW900 or DW1100.

Should I choose DW900 or DW1100?

Choose DW900 for more speed, maneuverability and a more compact feel. Choose DW1100 for earlier lift, additional carrying capacity, softer swell, lighter wind or a more supportive entry into downwind riding.

Why choose Ranger instead of Rover?

Choose Ranger for dedicated downwind foiling and compact pack-away riding. Choose Rover for smoother general power control, stronger upwind performance and broader freeride exploration.

Does the Ranger require a pump?

No. The Ranger is a non-inflatable single-skin parawing controlled through short bridles and the included carbon bar. It does not use an inflatable leading edge or center strut.

What safety equipment do I need?

Requirements depend on location, but open-water downwinders call for appropriate training, flotation, visibility and communication equipment, route and weather planning, and reliable assistance. Check wind, swell, current and exit options, and do not attempt unfamiliar downwind routes alone.
