2026 North Ranger Parawing + F-One Rocket Free Surf Board Package
A focused parawing setup for hands-free swell riding and committed carving.
Pair the compact, packable North Ranger with the responsive F-One ROCKET FREE SURF for a parawing setup built around the ride after takeoff. The Ranger supplies the wind power to reach foil speed, then packs away so you can surf the swell without a paddle or inflatable wing in your hands. Underfoot, the FREE SURF combines useful glide with low swing weight, balanced foot pressure and a shape that stays free through tighter turns. Choose your Ranger and board sizes; a waist-mounted coiled board leash is included.
- Ranger: 3.2 / 4.2m
- FREE SURF: 71 / 79 / 85L
- Bamboo Deck Construction
- Waist board leash included
- Hydrofoil sold separately
Best for: experienced foilers who can manage lower-volume starts and want a surf-oriented parawing board with more carving freedom than a dedicated downwind shape. This is not the easiest package for learning to foil or learning parawinging from the beginning.
Why Choose This Parawing Package?
Power up, pack away and surf
Use the Ranger to accelerate onto foil, then stow it in the included on-water backpack and ride the swell hands-free. If you come off foil, deploy it again and continue your session.
A board that wants to turn
The FREE SURF uses a tapered nose and tail, reduced thickness and balanced foot pressure to feel nimble in flight and stay clear of the water during committed carves.
Glide without a full DW-board feel
Its narrow, elongated outline still builds useful takeoff speed, but the board remains more surf-focused and maneuverable than the wider-nosed FREE DOWNWIND.
A clean board-leash setup
The North Waist Board Leash keeps its coiled cord above the water, helping reduce drag while keeping the leash farther from your feet and foil.
What’s Included

|---|---|
| 2026 North Ranger Parawing | One parawing: choose 3.2 or 4.2m. The lightweight carbon control bar and slimline on-water backpack come with the Ranger. |
| 2026 F-One ROCKET FREE SURF Board | One board: choose 6'2 / 71L, 6'5 / 79L or 6'8 / 85L. This is the standard Bamboo Deck Construction, not the Carbon model. |

Not included: hydrofoil, foil-to-board mounting hardware, boardbag, helmet, personal flotation or impact vest, communication and visibility equipment.
Why the Ranger and FREE SURF Work Together
This package is about reducing what the rider feels once airborne. The Ranger creates the pull needed to get moving and can then disappear into its backpack. The FREE SURF continues that idea underfoot: enough length and glide to support takeoff, paired with a thinner, tapered shape that feels more natural through turns than a stability-first downwind board.
Choose this combination when carving and surf feel come first. Choose the Ranger + FREE DW package instead when easier starts, greater pitch stability and maximum downwind glide matter more than tight turning response.
Choose Your Rocket Free Surf Board
All three package sizes use F-One’s light and durable Bamboo Deck Construction. Each board includes an installed traction pad, integrated carry handle and adjustable 90mm Twin-Tracks foil mount. The separate Carbon model is not included in this package.
| Board | Dimensions | How to choose |
|---|---|---|
| 6'2 / 71L | 6'2 × 18.75 × 5.0in 188 × 47.6 × 12.7cm Approx. 5.3kg / 11.7lb |
The most compact and responsive package option for a lighter or highly confident rider comfortable with low-volume starts. |
| 6'5 / 79L | 6'5 × 19 × 5.2in 195.6 × 48.3 × 13.2cm Approx. 5.7kg / 12.6lb |
The middle choice, adding useful support while preserving the quick, direct feel that makes the FREE SURF attractive. |
| 6'8 / 85L | 6'8 × 19.25 × 5.3in 203.2 × 48.9 × 13.5cm Approx. 5.9kg / 13.0lb |
The most supportive option here, with added glide and flotation for riders who still want the FREE SURF’s carving character. |
Choose by rider weight, balance, foil level, launch conditions and front-wing size—not volume alone. Even the 85L remains a narrow performance board rather than a wide first-time beginner platform.
Choose Your North Ranger Size
The 3.2m keeps the setup smaller and quicker in stronger wind. The 4.2m adds low-end pull when you need more help accelerating the board onto foil. Use these ranges as a practical starting point:
| Ranger size | Wind range | Riding emphasis |
|---|---|---|
| 3.2m | 18–26 knots | Less canopy to manage and pack away for stronger wind, faster swell and riders with efficient takeoff technique. |
| 4.2m | 14–20 knots | More low-end power for moderate wind, softer swell or riders who want additional pull during takeoff. |
Treat these wind ranges as a starting point rather than a guarantee. Rider weight, board volume, foil size, technique, current and swell can all change which Ranger feels right.
Which Parawing Package Is Right for You?
| Package | Primary focus | Best reason to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Ranger + FREE SURF | Hands-free swell riding, carving and a compact board feel | You have confident foil control and want the most surf-oriented Ranger board pairing. |
| Ranger + FREE DW | Dedicated downwind glide, easier starts and greater stability | You prioritize takeoff support and open-water efficiency over the tightest carving response. |
| Rover + FREE SURF | Surf-oriented board feel with broader freeride and upwind capability | You want the FREE SURF but prefer the Rover’s more versatile power delivery and upwind range. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a hydrofoil included?
No. This package includes one Ranger Parawing, one ROCKET FREE SURF board and one North Waist Board Leash. Choose a separate foil with a four-bolt plate mount compatible with the board’s 90mm Twin-Tracks.
Is this a beginner parawing package?
No. The FREE SURF is narrow and performance-oriented, and the Ranger is a dedicated pack-away parawing. We recommend this combination for riders who already have reliable foil-height, directional and starting control.
Why choose FREE SURF instead of FREE DW?
Choose FREE SURF for lower swing weight, balanced foot pressure and more freedom through tighter turns. Choose FREE DW when stable starts, maximum glide and easier acceleration in difficult conditions are the higher priorities.
Does the Ranger require a pump?
No. The Ranger is a non-inflatable single-skin parawing controlled through short bridles and the included carbon bar. It does not use an inflatable leading edge or center strut.
What comes with the Ranger?
The Ranger includes the parawing canopy, lightweight carbon control bar and slimline on-water backpack. A separate stash belt or harness accessory is not included.
Is foil mounting hardware included?
No. The board has an industry-standard 90mm Twin-Tracks mount, but the correct screws and track nuts depend on the foil plate being used. Confirm the required hardware before assembly.
