A Bigger Step Than the Name Suggests
MAX+ keeps the compact, all-round character of Assist MAX, then adds Foil Drive’s higher-voltage Gen2.5 architecture. It is built for longer surf sessions, upwind access, flatwater starts, pumping practice, wake riding and faster recovery after a fall.

Start With the FM+ 650
The 43.2V FM+ 650 is the direct-fit battery for Assist MAX+. Its 648Wh capacity, molded one-piece construction and intelligent BMS balance runtime, weight and cost. It can also power Fusion when the correct FM+ Battery Adaptor is installed.

The 85-minute charging figure is an average with the specified 43V charger.

What is the Foil Drive Assist MAX+?
Assist MAX+ is Foil Drive’s 43.2V Gen2.5 all-rounder. It balances power, runtime and ride feel for surf, upwind/downwind access, flatwater starts, pumping practice, wake riding and light e-foiling.
How does MAX+ compare with the Gen2 MAX High Power setup?
MAX+ moves from the 40V Gen2 platform to 43.2V Gen2.5 electronics and produces about 20% more sustained power and maximum thrust than the Gen2 MAX High Power setup. With the FM+ 650, it has 648Wh of capacity, 35.5 kg maximum thrust and 2,150W peak power.
Can MAX and MAX+ share batteries or chargers?
No. The Gen2 MAX uses 40V batteries and charging hardware, while Assist MAX+ uses a 43.2V Gen2.5 platform. They are not cross-compatible.
Which battery works with Assist MAX+?
The 43.2V FM+ 650 is the direct-fit battery for MAX+. The Fusion 860 and 40V Gen2 MAX batteries do not fit MAX+. Gen2 batteries are not compatible with the MAX+ system.
What should a complete MAX+ configuration include?
A complete MAX+ configuration requires the FD400 Base Kit, one FD401 FM+ 650 battery and a compatible motor configuration. Windance's Complete Kit bundles the Base Kit, battery and FD333 High Power retrofit motor kit. The Base Kit + Battery bundle includes the first two components but no motor. The bare Base Kit includes neither a battery nor a motor. Your board, foil and mast are separate.
How long does the FM+ 650 run with MAX+?
Foil Drive’s September 2026 guide lists approximately 31 minutes for intermediate e-foiling and 52 minutes for advanced e-foiling. Surf guidance is approximately 40–50 minutes for intermediate riders and 55–70 minutes for advanced riders. These are indicative figures based on specific test conditions, not guarantees.
How long does the FM+ 650 take to charge, and how should it be stored?
Foil Drive lists an average charge time of about 85 minutes with the specified 43V charger. Use Storage Mode and store the battery at 30–60% state of charge for longer periods. Always follow the current battery and charger manuals.
Should I choose the Standard or High Power retrofit motor bundle?
The Standard bundle is the value-focused starting point with a Universal Motor Pod and two-blade propeller setup. The High Power bundle uses the lower-drag Universal Mini Pod and three-blade setup for stronger takeoff thrust and more performance across assisted-foiling disciplines.
Can the FM+ 650 be used with a Fusion unit?
Yes, but not as a direct fit. A Fusion system requires the correct FM+ Battery Adaptor to use an FM+ 650 battery.
What does the V2 Propeller Guard do?
The optional V2 Propeller Guard adds bump protection around compatible V2 motors and propellers. It does not remove propeller risk, and it adds drag that can reduce runtime. Read the full system and motor warnings before use.
Should I choose Fusion, MAX+ or Slim?
Choose Fusion when maximum power and runtime lead the decision, MAX+ for the broadest balance of assistance and ride feel, and Slim when a small, agile setup for short bursts is the priority. Your rider weight, board, foil and conditions should guide the final choice.
